Grotmas Detachments

A detachment every day has the kind of varying levels of quality you'd expect (I bought the Silent King just for the Necron one, but I don't think I'll need to trouble myself to read the Thousand Sons one again before their Codex). But it's a lot of fun looking at them and reading reviews ever day.

The last couple of days has been particularly great though:

- Deathwatch are back, with a cleaned up version of their Index and weirdly good Heavy Intercessors

- Custodes get a dreadnought focused detachment, just to tempt me to go back to the resin mines

- Agents get an Assassin focused detachment that powers up all four types with compulsory Enhancements. It won't be a good list but it looks hilarious and a good excuse to field all four.

Today's Knights detachments are great too. I'm more familiar with the Loyalist side of things so I'm really not sure if the CK one is any good but both make for a more interactive army for casual play. Loyalists can bring in AdMech troops with cross-buffing, Chaos gets various cultists which can be sacrificed to give the Knights Dark Pacts. Flavoursome, probably not competitive but certainly interesting, more options for scoring and less of a stat check.

Ooh! I'll have to check it out. Thanks!

Yesterday's Drukhari/Harlequin detachment is great - the two halves of the army have a wager on who kills the most and they get buffs when they're losing.

Excellent example of how the detachment system can inject flavour while restricting the blast radius of any balance concerns.
