Howdy folks
over on this thread:
http://www.nagoyahammer.com/forum/viewt ... 3&start=30
Badruck and I have been having a bit of a discussion about what we consider to be good for the gaming scene here in Japan, particularly what should be done to encourage you guys (the new guys) to join in our events. We want as many people as possible to come to these things, so we'd like to get your input.
Each of the options has its good and bad points, but I'd like to see what you guys make of it all.
Cheers folks, and thanks in advance for the input

I'm personally a fan of the relaxed setting. I play these games for the social aspect, to just hang out and talk so I'm not really one for super rigid rules, and the I HAVE TO WIN EVERYTHING OR A FAIL AS A PERSON attitudes. So yea I'm interested in coming to some of the events, but probably only relaxed times like when us Nagahama boys went to Admirals house last week.

And thats how people should think. Shoot the breeze, have a few beers, and chill. That's how the rules and the game was written to be played in the first place. Rick P said that he likes games to be over in time to get you to the pub. I for one agree.

Cheers for the vote, Jolith
I'm one for the fun games too, although I also enjoy a competitive game, as long as its clearly labelled as such. The worst case situation is when one player turns up for a fun game and the other turns up for a competitive one. Then nobody has any fun. It's all about making sure both players are on the same page, I think.

I played Fantasy pretty competitive for a few years and it was fun, but I guess the older I got the more I wanted to just put it away as something I did and just wanted to have fun playing it for fun. But I've also done that pretty much with all gaming hehe(MMOs, RTSs, FPSs) I am pretty much only in it for the fun/collectablity. I would like to play fantasy again, but seems that it has fallen away into nothingness which makes me very sad.
Sad panda is sad.

Well, I was a bit hesitant to vote because the main deciding factor for me would be if my schedule was free or not. But I guess the first one sounds like the most fun; the house rules one would be interesting too, as a lot of the rules I've read here sounded creative and fun, but I would like to gain more experience using the standard rules first!
BTW regarding Fantasy, it seems to be pretty popular ever since the new edition came out
