An Eldar List

Hey everyone, this is an Eldar list I have been thinking about since NagoyaHammer. Feedback and comments please.

Eldar 1500 point mobile strike force.

HQ
Autarch with Jetbike, Mandiblasters, Laser Lance,

Troops
6 Guardian Jetbikes with 2 Shuriken Cannon
6 Guardian Jetbikes with 2 Shuriken Cannon
6 Guardian Jetbikes with 2 Shuriken Cannon

Heavy Support
3 Warwalkers with 5 Scatter Lasers, 1 Bright lance
3 Warwalkers with 5 Scatter Lasers, 1 Bright lance
3 Warwalkers with 5 Scatter Lasers, 1 Bright lance

Fast Attack
2 Vypers with 1 Shuriken Cannon
2 Vypers with 1 Shuriken Cannon
3 Shining Spears with Exarch, Skilled Rider

The idea is a fast moving mobile force throwing out a LOT of strength 6 shots. Even with the universal BS of 3 most of the units can hit something and wound it easily. S6 threatens most light vehicles and side armour, and there are 3 bright lances for dealing with big nasty things.

And now we have the Little leaf blower list for the Eldar... 4 stars for no aspect warriors outside of the SSpears and 5 stars for no Psykers... the only thing I can see wrong with it is the numbers of models will have a hard time with IG and Orks sure there will be a lot fire power coming out of the bikes and stuff.. but it seems to me that you will be in trouble if you have a bad round of shooting.. and most of your list will get rocked by S4 + weapons.. There are a lot S4 + weapons out there... that said I will be happy to take them on with any of my armies...

It looks good. My only suggestion would be a second Autarch. that extra +/-1 to reserve rolls could come in very handy

9 war walker is boss I take back the ST 4 guns... this would be a hard core list a bit expensive...but not with the low Pound...

I'm not intending to ever build this, I was just toying with the idea after watching Mike/Justin play and from my own experience. The low model count really helps out when dealing with hordes. So long as you dont spread out, the horde army will find a lot of its guns out of range/los.

The spears are only in there to burn points. The 2nd Autarch may be a better idea.

Hmmn. I can see several problems with this list, right off the bat. most could be put up with with if you were dead set on having a super whooshy flying list (even at the expense of winning), but one is nigh on insurmountable.

problems, the lesser:

Your War Walkers will be constantly having to choose between anti infantry fire (their Scatlasers) or anti tank (their lances). They gotta choose one or t'other, and with 1 lance in each squadron, thats either gonna be 3 lances wasted or 15 scats wasted every turn. Not good. Never, ever have multi purpose units in an eldar army. Rule Number 1.

The guardian bikers would be good, no questions there. They always are. I'd have more if I could afford em.

The Vypers are an expensive way to mount a single shuricannon. That's 50+ points for a unit that only fires 3 S6 AP5 shots a turn. You can get that for half the price on a death jester, and at least he can kick ass in H2H too.

Finally, shining spears are poo. Sorry, but they just are. They cost 35 pts each, plus bells n whistles for the exarch, and will, at best kill 2 or 3 marines on the charge. Then die to the counter attack. I've used spears a fair bit, and they got reamed every time.

Finally, a lot of S6 shots is lovely, but you better pray to Isha that you kill every last one of those motherfethers in the first 2 turns, cos if you don't, its assaultin' time, and thats gonna get terminal real fast. (and thats discounting stuff like DS CSM daemons and other nasties that can jump you before you get a chance to shoot em. Or anybody in an imperial tank (generally AV 13 on the front), which this list cant actually hurt except with aforementioned laser lances.) 3 lance shots a turn, of which 1.5 hit, of which 0.75 actually penetrate armour (at all), of which 0.25 get a vehicle destroyed or better.Thats per turn, so over a 5 turn game you will, on average, kill 1 and a quarter AV 12 or higher vehicle. Assuming that the enemy just lines up in clear view and sits there letting you shoot them.

However, the nail in the coffin for this list (in my not-that-humble-really opinion) is the cost. WOW is this list expensive!

From Wayland Games, itd cost:

autarch - 15 quid
18 jetbikes - 89 quid
9 war walkers - 130 quid
4 vypers - 48 quid
3 spears - 20 quid

comes to 302 quid, plus postage for 1500 pts

This is why, when you get right down to, Fire Dragons in Falcons are gonna keep popping up in Eldar lists the length and breadth of the land. Sorry.

Anyway, since when did you play eldar? If I was a suspiciously minded man, I'd suspect you started this thread just to wind me up...

Just wanted to start a discussion actually. The list was intended as an alternative to a standard force. The price is why I would never ever do this list.

I think it would actually do really well against other Eldar though.

P.s. I would buy from Maelstrom. For small orders Wayland is good, but Maelstrom's free international shipping and discounts based on amount spent make them much much better if you order a ridiculously large amount.

so according to M-I-J this is the cherry blossom pedal blower... I am not sure how it would play out but like every good balanced lists it has it charms...

@Prim. I hope you do get some Eldar and then get sick of them and sell them to me for a good price...

No intention of buying Eldar, they dont interest me that much. As I have said before in this thread, the list is pure speculation. Now Dark Eldar.....
