Dark Elves are a mean, mean army. I have faced Pikeys evil elves several times and they are a very good army and I think they will still be good in this edition. Whilst they do suffer from T3 and low armour saves, they can reroll their attacks with hatred, take lots of monsters (Hydras are nasty), shoot well and aren't too expensive. Most of my games with HE vs DE have been pretty close one way or the other.

Wood Elves, I have never played against. Sorry.

I'm not too worried about how tough the army is (according to everyone, WE are the current bottom rung army). I based it off of two criteria, 1) how old the army book is and 2) the miniatures. Nothing worse than buying an army book now and then three months later having to buy a new book. Tomb Kings and Ogre Kingdoms are rumored to be coming soon and I wouldn't be surprised if Brettonia was sooner rather than later. Dark Elves have a newer book so it'll last a long time. I already have the WE book so it's not an issue on that part. Skaven is the newest but I figure a new player will take out of the box, and the sheer number to paint is just too daunting at the moment.

Miniature wise, Wood Elves have an outstanding range of models. Dark Elves have some cool models (sorceress, hydra, black guard) but also some I'm not fond of (executioners, bolt thrower). Skaven, Brettonia and Tomb Kings are similar to DE. OK are just horrible models.

So while WE should be the winner, I'd rather spend a great deal of time working on them so they get bumped to number 2 instead and DE stab their way up to number 1.

Yes, first round is 750 points. I'll be there ready to wreak havoc and I will have some extra armies to play for those interested

aw, next time then rob.

quick question about "escalations". For the following games, does the 750 points of army you start out with remain static, and units added to it, or can it be a whole new list at the game?

Colonel Voss wrote:...2) you are free to change and modify your lists pre-tournament month. depending on how this works out, there may be a game day before the tournament of that month and if so, you need to be locked in by that game day.
So, yes you can change your list, but if Voss plans a tournament then you cant.
