Are you for fantasy?

Well, you guys probably know by now I love me fantasy. The swords and sorcery just click with me, a bit more than chainswords and psychic powers.
There is a bit of a lull in its interest of late. I think having all these minis to paint but with no real chance to bring em out and put em on the table will be a bit of a waste. (Not to mention the storage space of Fantasy armies

)
So, I just want to gage the interest within our group - Are you for fantasy?
Should my elves go back into the deepest groves and the Tomb Kings back into their...err...tombs? Or maybe they can even find a new residence in lands afar.
Maybe it is the time for skirmish games, Malifaux, Warmachine/Hordes, Cutlass and Blood Bowl (Never played it though)!

Meh, my feelings about the current edition of WFB are no secret, but I wouldn't tell you to put it into storage. There will always be someone willing to play (Probably Jus

).
If you enjoy the game and can find an opponent then go ahead and play it with that person. Maybe other people will catch the vibe and join in. If not, you can still enjoy playing with that one person.
Sheesh we've got people talking about quitting 40k on one side and now WFB on the other..... I dunno what's come over everyone recently.

The 'Orible lot will be ready to oblige when the chance occurs sir. Fantasy is still in my top 5 somewhere.

I too prefer fantasy. Maybe I need to start a second army so we have more variety between us.

I have always been slightly more drawn to sword and sorcery based malarkey. I love the Old World setting, don't mind the WFB rules, though liked 7th better (40 model units are expensive and magic is just silly now)
I have 3-4k of (Nordland) Empire here in Nagoya, and am keen to get them on the table again soonish with the new army book. No need to worry as it sounds like a few of us are up for a game.

I love Fantasy. It is the game I'm second most invested into, after FOW. Granted BP is starting to take a hold on me, but I still love the magic and steel of WHFB. Even with 40k's 6th ed. coming out, I think I'll keep myself occupied with piecing together my Dwarves.
A couple things that are needed to change the WHFB scene (in my humble opinion) is the need for some more constant players to be present at Joshin, always offering the sight of FB games to excite the crowds and offer an opponent. I think Koji has been the most constant in brining FB to Joshin, but Jus has not been as present recently. (I'm sure he's busy.) Also we lost Frans, who always offered a good game, or a conversation on tactics and FB-stuff. I might add 'orrible green hordes of Ashmie and the blue horde of ToD haven't been fielded as they have little ones to raise now. MtP is occupied with just about every game plus three children of his own. Recently, Rob said that he wasn't all that take with WHFB in its present form.
The positive side is we have Tenorikuma who has brought more W.Elf mayhem. (To the displeasure of bearded folk.) We may get new blood soon.... so there are promises for the future. (And lo' and behold, as I write Lovejoy posts he has an army of his own!

)
Another things to consider is FB really didn't take off last year until July-August, as I recall. We've just come out of the post-NH down season, so I expect the energy should crank up as we look forward to Orktoberfest 2! (Should we spice things up this year and have something exciting to compliment the event?)
My real concern is FB has been so 1-on-1 recently. This and the campaign map I think leads to competitive attitudes. That is not to say the games are uber-competitive. I had a blast with my last game, of course, it was a lot of fun, competitive, but without real concern for winning or losing. That said, I should mention it wasn't a map game either. I feel that things can be a little too competitive in the map-based campaign (score keeping and all) for my taste and I'd rather see some team games, games oriented around new scenarios or just some good old high point games to get lots of figures on the board and good match up of wits.
That's my take. Otherwise, my dwarves are always ready for a battle if anyone wants to challenge them. (Do you dare say anything about our stature or beards?

)

I'm into fantasy as well. The new rules are nice but trying to put that many rats on the field is expensive and I'm shy 2k points to make most of my stuff work. I may have to switch back to WoC or do some horse trading to get a viable army

Thanks Gents, it seems there is still a spark of interest, and at least for Tenorikuma and I there is an inferno.
I think within our noble club, fantasy is liked but is not on or near the top of most people's list of things to bring along and play with on a regular basis.
I really wanted to know so that I could put the appropriate amount of time and money into the fantasy part of my collection.
Based on the current trend, I think I will tone it back a bit, maybe offer Tenorikuma my Wood Elves to bring his forces to a nice strong level and just keep the Tomb Kings which are already painted, though not well
Ten, you in need of some more Kinbands??????
This way I can get the skirmish games painted and maybe some 40k depending on the new rules - 5th has not had a 'wow'

factor for me.

I love fantasy, and prefer by a good margin to 40K. I just think that with preparations for Nagoyahammer and the imminent release of 40K 6th edition that folks' attention has been focused firmly on the 41st millennium.
As for 8th, I like seeing bigger regiments on the table (though I don't like paying for them), and while Magic can be overly dominant at times, I would be sad to see it nerfed too much.
IMHO one thing that stops it being played more than other games is that it is slower to play, even at 2K points. There are generally a lot of models to put down and movement and maneuver are much more important than certain other games. So, at Joshin you really have to hustle to get two good games in.
Anyways, bring it on folks. I am always keen for a game. My Druchii or Beasts will happily stomp any of ya into the ground.

@Koji: I don't think you should unload your Wood Elves on me just yet.

Now, if you have anything unpainted that you don't plan to use, I might buy or trade for it.
@Voss: I still have all the Skaven from the Fantasy starter box if they will help bolster your army.
