WitBP Draft Rules

Post by Primarch » Sat Nov 03, 2012 6:46 am

Please find below the draft rules for the WitBP campaign. I would appreciate it if players could take the time to read through them and tell me if there are:
A) Any glaring mistakes
B) Anything they think is missing or not covered
and C) Any rules they want clarifying.

I would like to get a finalised set of rules online in the next couple of weeks if possible.

#EDIT# The file has been updated and is now on page 4 of this thread.

I've given it a quick once-over. Looks pretty good.

One quick clarification: Are we allowed to start our named lords (personalities) with a mount?

Personalities can change their equipment from game to game. So you can have a mount in one game and nothing in the next. The only things locked in are unit type and magic level.

So far what I read looks really good. The only I think I'd suggest is a checklist of important things each player needs to do before the campaign (characters, secret mission etc.). Lots of detail. Very nicely written.

This is excellent. Very well done indeed. I wish my play by post Napoleonic scrap had had something as well grounded. The forward is very well written also. I like your philosophy and that kind of outlook fills me with hope. I'm very tempted. If I was to join I would want to be fully dedicated. I've cancelled far too many times this year. Let me give this some serious thought and the time it deserves before I jump in.
Good work GM.

As requested, a pre game checklist.
1. PM me with your ideal starting position. Please include 2-3 options.
2. Choose 2 Lords and post their info in the Personalities thread.
3. Start thinking about your secret plot and what resources you may need to complete it. (It won't come into play straight away, so no rush here).
4. Post your motivations and public goals up in the Fiction section.
5. Check the campaign rules and how they affect your army. If you aren't sure, ask!
6. PM me with names for your two starting armies.

I'd like to get everything set up so we can start the first turn on December 1st. If there is anything you'd like to ask/suggest about the rules, please do so ASAP.

Cheers. :D

Well, so far the rules have been downloaded 18 times, (one of those was me checking that it worked though).
Any more comments, questions or things people need clarifying?
I'd like to get a rough guide as to the number of people playing, if there are a lot of people I may look at adding some extra hex rows to the map.

So far we have:
Prim,
Kojibear,
Tenorikuma,
Job,
Signed up with entries in the Personalities section.

In the initial proposal thread,
Yellowstreak
Underdweller
Jus
Lovejoy
Ashmie
All expressed an interest.

So is anyone else considering playing? Where have the extra 9 downloads come from?

I have given the rules a good read, sorry i downloaded them a few times for my ipad and pc. So far, it looks great. Looking forwad to playing. Just trying to decide whether to tame high elves or empire for this before i write up personalities.

Also would veteran regimental units permanently retain their unit detachments? And do the detachments gain xp?

Veteran regiments would be able to change out detachments game by game. Detachments dont get xp if their parent unit does, but may be given xp in the same way as any other unit. (Which would lock in their size etc, but they could be attached to a new unit game by game).
I guess the same should hold true for any unit which can purchase attached units. E.g. Skaven Weapons Teams.

I've been reading the rules a bit more. They look really good. Especially the character/unit experience section. I really like the special rules. They seem to have color and balance.

My only two suggestions are to revisit the rule for a lost leg. -1 M could be the death knell for a character as it would potentially hamstring an entire unit. Maybe something else? :?

Also how about no more than 2 injuries of the same type? After all one you've been blinded in both eyes (which would be such an awesome character!) bein blinded thrice should be a pass! He's immune from further bLindings! :D
