Orcs and Gobbos confirmed as next armybook

Post by Primarch » Mon Dec 06, 2010 2:19 pm

I just got an email in my inbox from GW.
Looks like O&G will be getting a new army book come March next year. Good news for Greenskin players everywhere.
Incoming! Orcs & Goblins

In March the green tide of Orcs & Goblins, the scourge of the Warhammer world, is about to become even bigger. In an unstoppable Waaagh! these angry creatures live to fight; their only goal is to rampage and slaughter. Take a look at the Astronomican today to see the Studio's Incoming! article about Orcs & Goblins, and for advice in building up an army in time for the new arrivals.

It will be interesting to see what they do with them, being the first army book release since the new edition came out. I sense a few points cost changes and perhaps bigger changes to their magic system.

GW has hinted about some sort of changeup to the way they are doing army books. No clue what though.

Quickly? (crosses fingers)
Without the need for extensive FAQs? Maybe if hell freezes over eh?
Free PDFs?

They're probably just redoing the layout to better suit the current army construction rules.

From what I understand the orc miscast table is rather tame...compared to the miscast in the rule book.. I would guess that the are going to have far meaner miscast table in the new army book...

The Orc spell list was also comparatively weak though. Of course, with the ability to spam goblin shamans they may have to update that as well.
Orcs were one of the weaker armies before due to the amount of random bad stuff that seemed to happen (animosity, stupidity and random movement all being common). Hopefully they will tone that stuff down whilst still keeping a feel for the army.

OrCs and Gobbos are supposed to be one of the most powerful and destructive forces in the WH world, but in game terms they handle like clowns. Not everyone who wants to play them wants an army that wont move when they need it to, or that costs them the game because their units couldnt get into combat when they needed to. GW will have to work hard to make an army that is balanced with some of the better rulesets out there and at the same time retains the 'fun' aspect of the army.
