ok, so thats 3 for not-grey-actually-turquoise, 2 for black, and 1 for gold.

Gold is not a terrible idea, if I did it dark enough. Only problem is that to get dark gold you need to paint it brown, paint it gold, paint on about 4 layers of brown ink, then 1 layer of brown+purple ink, and Im just not willing to go to that much effort for the edge of a base. Not 80+ times, anyway...

so, its gonna be turkwaz unless anybody else wants to chip in in the next day or so
(Im finding that I keep finding bits I havent done on em, and have to go back and finish them again. Must...finish...squad...tomorrow...)

I'm going to be totally contrary and say either the same as the top surface or the same as the table on which they'll be used most often.

AGP has it right... I think it would have been better that way...that is what I normally do.

Its fair enough AP making that suggestion, as he is unfamiliar with teh gaming scene round these parts, but badruck should know better:

my table is desert yellow/brown, however nobody ever plays on it cos I live in the boonies. The tables we game on in Nagoya tend to be green cloth covered or brown cloth covered. (we use conference rooms, so everything is very temporary). Since the actual base surface itself is turq/white stone with red brown dirt, it doesnt match any of the above. Thus, the trim colour comes down to pure internal aesthetics.

In that case, I say "same colour as the dirt".

Mind you, I see bases as a necessary evil. If the miniatures would stand up without 'em, I'd do without them entirely.

And lo! There came from the east a great wind, and upon that wind Death did ride.*

Kabalite squad. (right click -> view image to see properly)

Leader Lady (I'm going to stencil/airbrush on a glyph on her banner, when I decide what its actually gonna be)

Splinter Cannon Lady (hereafter known as "Vasquez"

More Vasquez, with better colour correction.

A moody lookin' dark eldar lady.

Getting the colours to show up right is giving me no end of gyp with these guys. The pics with fancy backgrounds have been photoshopped up the wazoo to try and get the colour balance right, and it still doesnt look quite as it should. Anyway, y'all'll see em at NagoyaHammer in May anyway (well, AGP wont, but he'll maybe come over some day and I can show em off then. I dunno...)

Anyway, yay for me, I finished a squad. Next: harlequin, or maybe Baron Sathonyx. I wants me a Baron...

*at least, he will when his ride gets painted up. For now, Death can walk with the rest of us footsloggers...

me_in_japan wrote:The whole thing theyre standing on is made of resin, including the "GW base" bit. I made a whole bunch of eldary tiles (like, 6" square of em) and then broke it into bits and stuck em roughly onto GW bases. I textured the bits in between tiles with sand, for a sand-blown-over-ancient-civilisation feel, then cast the whole shebang in resin.
