Was that the super low budget part of the series where instead of CGI and special effects they used ventriloquists' dummies?

Back on the warpath!

Painted up 2 more genestealers over the past couple days - nothing exciting there, so no pictures. Have my 5-man assault squad on the bench at the moment, with the highlights done on the black, just needing a pass of black to clean up the flat armory bits before moving on to yellow. Should be able to get them done by this weekend, knock on wood. Then it'll just be the main event (Terminators and Tyranid Warriors) before I'm all done.

Painted & based
6 Termagants
4 Hormagaunts
6 Genestealers
5 Ork Mindslaves
5-man SM Scout Squad
2 5-man SM Tactical Squads

Painting
5-man SM Assault Squad

Assembled, waiting to prime when the weather clears a bit
SM Terminator Squad
SM Terminator Captain
3 Tyranid Warriors

One grim-faced Commander!

You'd be grim-faced too if your entire chapter had been eaten by an unknown enemy from another galaxy.

He jumped up ahead of the assault squad because he is a single model with no fiddly decals and his golds are all metallic - all speed-inducing points.

Looks great. I'm looking forward to seeing your full collection on the table at some stage.

Nice work, it's all coming together well. Can't wait to see a game demoed one day.
Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.

Finished up the assault marines. Found myself grumbling a bit because the yellow wasn't just right, and the chapter symbols came out a bit wonky, and the decals looked crap, but then I lined up all the marines I have painted so far and damn if they didn't look great.

(The assault marines are one of the reasons I'm unlikely to bother using these as a core for a 40K force as some folks have suggested. No jump packs and twin bolt pistols make excellent sense when you're boarding a hive ship, but probably aren't even legal kit for assault marines in 40K.)

For those who didn't check out that thread, I did get in a couple demo games at Zengo the other day, with I'm sorry but I never caught your name! The game played as smooth and fun as I remembered after more then 20 years - it probably needs a leetle bit of tweaking to even out balance in favor of the Tyranids, but that's easy enough.

I don't know if you're doing anything about the doors, teleporter cysts and objective markers, but Scotia Grendel do a few useful bits in their 28mm Sci Fi scenery range, originally from Kryomek:

Assault marines with no jump packs qualify for a free Rhino or Drop Pod, so that is legal. Since chainswords have no in-game effect and pistols count as a weapon for assault anyway, you can get away with two pistols so long as you aren't trying to fire them both at the same time. Sisters of Battle do it and you wouldn't want to disagree with them now would you? Not unless you are some kind of heretic.
