GW do it right

While it's probably that most of us have seen this, for those who haven't, it's pretty amusing.
While the actual news is in and of itself a good thing, I have to give GW a tip of the hat for the way they presented it, too. Proper good public relations, that is.

(this is the clock-stopping video, btw, for those who have seen it.)

It's really kind of shocking / refreshing, after GW spent so long ignoring social media (and even, like, literal market analysis), to see them with not only a community team, but a good community team. They've got information, humor, daily hobby tips, the whole shebang. Heck, I'm pretty set in my painting ways, but I get new ideas pretty regularly from the tip of the day and painting guides.

Agreed. Everything about this video would have been an impossibility only a few years ago. Tis good, no doubt.

It's been amusing to watch the reactions of intenet-dwellers who don't understand this human thing called "humour". Apparently this video must mean that a redesign of the Sisters of Battle line is imminent. As opposed to GW taking the piss out of the trolls on their Facebook feeds.

Wow.
Well, I doubt that they’ll go full squat somehow (as in a full 40k faction) but I never thought I would see this. Agree the video is great in terms of a less po-faced GW.

It's good that GW seem to have figured out what Marketing is. They are definitely making an effort to connect with their customers and to communicate with them in a way that they haven't bothered with much before.
Of course, for those who wanted a full Squat army with a wide range of models, a new figure for Necromunda is only a teeny-tiny step in that direction. If anything it's probably going to increase the online clamour.

It's my understanding (in a "a friend online talked to Rick Priestley about it at a party once" kind of way) that the main obstacle to Squats getting the full army treatment is a lack of interesting design space for them - heck, they've been quietly re-introduced to the fluff since 5th edition at least, so they for sure exist. It's just that "short guardsmen with access to attack bikes and terminators - and lots of huge titan-sized war machines" is in a kind of a fuzzy space that's pretty well filled by Guard and Marines at 40K scale.
But yeah, the 40K twitterverse has been a-clamor, relatively speaking, over the past few days.

Speakin' of...
I think that's a hammer at an odd angle to the camera in his left hand.

It's a nice mini alright. I imagine they'll sell enough to cover the cost of buying a new office clock.
The 'Squats are just IG with height issues' problem is something that GW would need to address were they ever to release an updated Squat army. WFB dwarves had some of the same issues when compared to Empire.
