A poster at dakka made a curious point, he found a sentence that was German, so either it´s a hoax made by some German geek with too much time or he was translating from a legit rough draft for the German playtesters.

The game did get rather wordy. I read most of it some of it seems like heaps of fun.

exactly!

now that is a rather convincing possibility. Certainly, itd take a helluva an effort to fake something like this, yet it reads in a rather unnatural fashion.

I´m thinking more and more that this is the real thing.

Warseer shuts threads like crazy and GW denied it, but then GW are on the record a couple years back dennying Space Hulk about one month before the big "surprise".

And even if it´s a fake... as somebody said, fans should tidy it up and use it instead of 6th ed, it´s much better. E.G cover saves back to 5+ it´s much sensible than what we have now.

Well the more I hear about GW the less I want to buy anything from them. The behavior seems just supercilious. Why do they think it is okay to lie? Of course the information that is leaked was partly stolen from them, but players and collectors wouldn't pushing so hard for these bits of information if they didn't make such tight-fisted attempt to control and suppress information. Ugghh! But I really want to buy some CSM models when they are released.

GW have the rights to make a game of the Hobbit movies. The film studio have said that if GW lets any documents or photos get leaked then they will sue them for everything they have. So GW has become much, much more stringent about shutting down leaks ASAP. That said, they were never particularly forthcoming in the first place. I think a part of it is that they dont want to get tied down to doing anything or having to meet any deadlines they can avoid. Gamers get pretty grouchy when their shiny new toys aren't delivered on time. :D

There are plenty of reasons NOT to buy from GW, but this is probably one of the more minor ones.

ach, pooey to that. GW have been miserly with development information for years, way longer than the Hobbit, or even LotR have been in production. There really is no sensible reason for them to be so tight-fisted with information about what they're doing other than they lack confidence in their own product and want to shift as many copies as possible before people start picking holes in it. Which is daft, as the rules themselves are not really what sells 40k. If it came down to a choice of which game has the best rules, 40k wouldn't even be in the running. They should follow PPs example and have public playtests before each new edition, and simply add the caveat that while they will read everyone's comments they cant promise theyll act on them, and that the playtest rules are subject to their own design team's final say. There is NO need for secrecy whatsoever when it comes to 40k rules development. In fact, it's downright counter-productive.

I read once that Gary Gygax said to the effect, "I don't know what we'll do if people figure out they can write thier own game."
A guy did that with Necromunda, collected a pile of fan-rules, boiled them down and made the Community Edition, which looks 10 times better than the original. Of course it took years and thousands of guys "picking holes in it" as MIJ put it, to get there.
All that being said, I'll probably buy the new edition and play it. I did with all the other ones. 40K is like why my buddies and I played 2nd ed AD@D, even after "better" games came out. I want to play with my toys. GW games all have a pattern I can follow (BS/WS/ move/shoot/charge) irregardless of what tweaks the current version features. I just don't want to learn another set of rules.
