@Voss: Stugs! :lol:

@Prim: But the ultimate goal is 1750, right? An artillery battery or Air would put you right there, when your wallet is ready, that is.

@ Voss - Dont forget, if you buy the starter pack with the portable rulebook, you also get 2 stugs in that box.

@ The Pike - I guess so. I want to get some games in at 1500 before I start buying more.

It's like the 1500pt - 1750pts difference in 40K. 1.5K is fine but the extra 250 let's you have just a few more cool toys.

I'm not getting that. I have no need for a bunch of american armor.

@Mike: after thinking about it, I've decided to hold off on making a list until I've had a chance to get better acquainted with the rules (I hope to read in transit) and I am going to get fortress europe so I have some generic army lists.

Fortress Europe is the best place to start for Army lists for late war. The other books are campaign settings/variant lists as are the ones on the FOW website.

If I were you, I would perhaps think about investing in the 'Open Fire' box set. The Mini-rulebook is much easier to cart around than the main rulebook plus you get a few dice and minis too. Even if you are not interested in either force, I'm sure there is someone who will take them off your hands, especially the Shermans as they were used by so many of the Allied armies.

Anyways, have a good trip home and we'll see you in Nag some time.

Thanks, at the rate things are going, it's going to be totally mad. I'm beginning to wonder if I'll even survive this trip.

Alright, after reading through the rules and the Fortress Europe, I settled on and ordered a fallschirmjagerkompanie. My initial choices for 1750 might not be the strongest, but I gave myself just a little bit extra to fiddle with and I think a solid core to expand on as I learn more.

German paras are, by all accounts, quite hard. They have more troops in their platoons than normal Grenadiers and are Fearless Veterans to boot. Historically they fought on all three European fronts too. I look forward to rolling over them with my Soviet Tank horde sometime. :D

But you'll roll over them slowly right? Not say...at the double?
