I'll be recruiting some for my Italia Compagnia while I'm stateside. I'll be designing this for the Russian front (currently, the only thing i have a book for) so that Mike's 20+ tanks can pound on my poor infantrymen. Such is life in Mussolini's 8 million bayonets.

Hello. Name is Joseph, although I go by Joe also. I'm an American paratrooper and armor player here in Eugene, OR, but as I head to Japan I'm thinking of whether my guys can manage a real 'drop'. (Particularly the sherman tanks! They're not Tetrachs.) So, I may take the opportunity of going to Japan to begin from square one again, maybe on the Axis side this time, maybe as a Brit. (In my heart I want to be a Russian, but too many figures to paint. :P ) If I can join your group in the future, I was wondering what kind of army might fit best in your group. Do you guys play LW or MW predominately, or do you guys which between the two regularly? I thought I read somewhere Eastern Front forces dominate match-ups. True?
Also how do you guys obtain FOW products in Japan? Do you order them online and pay international rates, or just pack some stuff back when you visit states-side, Australia-side or Europe-side?
Hope to join you guys in games.

Hi there Joe,
You would be most welcome in our group anytime. We are absolute beginners at FOW here so someone who has a bit of experience with the game would be a real boon. I think we have the basic rules sorted but we would appreciate anyone who can point out anything we are doing wrong.

Currently, I am the only one that has painted armies, 1x German 1x Russian companies, both late war, around 1750 pts, both with quite a few variations. I also have at least 2 more companies for each in blister packs and a late war Free French army that will get painted up someday. I also hope to get late war Kiwis when they come out later this year too. Primarch (our gallant site admin) has a British force assembled and at least two (maybe 3) others are very keen to join us.

As for buying minis, we have been getting them from either of the two main British on-line discount stores (Maelstrom and Wayland) as the Pound is very weak at the moment and both offer free shipping over a certain level. The American stores also have good prices but we seem to lose out on shipping costs there.

By the way, where are you going to be living when you get here? I think you mentioned on the other forum that you would be in Aichi, right? Do you know which part?

Cheers
Mike

Hey Mike,
Thanks for the welcome. I've been busy recently, and in between I've been trying to garb games with my local group that I'm very involved with. Recently a bunch of us attended a tournament and I'm organizing one for our group that I will ironically miss. :(
Once I fly in I'll be probably busy for some time with settling in and situating myself, so it may be awhile before I can get back to you guys. My full intention is settle in the Nagoya, Chubu area, so I'll touch base once I've got time for FOW again. I'll also bring some German panthers, StuGs and infantry to begin a LW panzer company. Later I might recall my Americans and British from here.
Cheers, Later.
