Well, I played my first game yesterday and I liked it.
I ran a list with The Butcher, A Destroyer, A Juggernaught and a squad of Winter Guard against Dave's super stealthy cryx. My winter guard managed to shoot up a light 'jack before being killed by said 'jack and some satyxis?? raiders. The Butcher and the two heavy warjacks tore M-i-j's heavy ''jack into tiny bitty pieces, despite having penalties of all sorts dropped on them by his NINE focus warcaster coven. (Seriously, NINE focus).
One of the jacks got blown to pieces by magic in retaliation and the Butcher quite literally butchered his way through all of the Satyxis raiders and their special unit attachment. In the last part of the game M-i-j kept throwing spells at the Butcher and eventually ground him down and killed him. If he hadn't done so, the Butcher was in range to charge the Egregore and wipe out the coven.

Fun game to play.

The Butcher is not called that because he is knowledgeable about cuts of beef, that's for sure.
Feel free to call me Dave!

True. But I imagine that if you needed some beef cutting, he would do a very very good job of it.

I get the feeling that there'd be nothing but a fine paste made of meat, which would be fine if it were to be used for hamburgers, but not much else...

yeah, right, that's probably what happens when he activates his feat "bloody frenzy" on a piece of sirloin. The mans psychotic, you know he must be if he runs around with a massive meat cleaver he calls ....."Lola". But that makes him all the more fun to play.

The butcher? hmmf. not so scary. Just find yourself a nice piece of high ground and shoot stygian abysses at him till he goes away...

Yep, that'll do it.
In my defence, one more turn and you'd have been pate. Sadly that turn was not forthcoming due to the whole stygian abyss thing. 9 focus points!!! What's that all about then?

I dont currently have the Khador book and I probably wont be getting it for a while. Aside from the three casters in the core book (The Butcher, Sorscha and Vlad) what are the other warcasters like?

In terms of warcasters khador has quite a selection. There are the three you mentioned, but they also come in an "epic" flavor too. e.g plain butcher - epic butcher. the epic incarnations of the warcasters aren't necessarily better per se, they show how the character has evolved and develop during the course of the ever expanding story line and t offer a different playstyle using the same character (different abilities/spells), in addition to an updated sculpt.

heres a list of the other Khador warcasters available and what I think they are like.

Kommandant Irusk - dead ringer to a 40k comissar. minus the laspistol. Nearly as merciless though. Irusk is all about mass infantry and bolstering them in all manner of funky ways, like allowing them to shoot stealthed models and ignoring enemy cover.

Supreme Kommandant Irusk - (epic) again infantry focused, but this time more focused on rapid advance, and trying to out man-oeuvre your opponent with spells that drastically improve speed and movement.

Karchev the terrible - A dreadnought caster...literally. He's a veteran whose had his bloody remains placed into the sustaining chassis of a warjack. Does that sound like copyright infringment hmm? Nevermind, he's awesome. He's primarily a warjack caster and you want to field as many as you can with him to make use of all the boosted melee attack bonus e.t.c
p.s being a man in a machine he takes damage on a warjack damage grid. no less than 34 damage boxes 8-)

...continuing on

Old Witch of Khador & Scrapjack - probably one of the most fun khador warcasters in my opinion. Old witch is a support caster and comes with a light warjack (which is an arc node to boot). Best kept behind your lines casting upkeep spells. She is the upkeep master! and has lots of handy ways to manage focus, such as the "great power" ability that lets her upkeep 1 spell for free each turn. Oh but heres the kicker...shes probably one of the only models in this game with a "lash of submission" in a sense, making models move towards you d6 inches... mm fun.

Kommander Strakhov - newest warcaster to khador and considered by many to be completely overpowered. This guy has everything from guns, bombs, swords, immunity to corrosion, immunity to fire, pathfinder, immunity to gas effects, ignoring cloudeffects, bonuses to shooting (rapid fire), bonuses to attack damage (+2 ) and some nice support spells and ....theres more but you get the picture.

Koldun Kommander Aleksandra Zerkova - Force blast...Icy grip...Razor wind...Howling wind.. Twister, you can tell by just looking at her list of spells that shes the premiere mage caster of Khador. Thematically to be paired up with a caster list of greylords and what not. ..oh look, it says she can banish away any enemy upkeep spell and make it expire. ...and she can also ignore stealth, nice!

Theres also epic vlad epic scorha and epic butcher if you want to know about them. I can write up something about them. I can also bring the khador book next time to joshin if you want to take a look at it.
