Uncharted Seas

Seeing all these other threads about people's favourite mini games got me thinking about one of the better games I've picked up, Uncharted Seas.

Uncharted Seas is a Fantasy Naval Combat game, similar to the old GW Mon'O'War game (which was excellent). The game is still fairly new and is published by a British company. http://www.spartangames.co.uk/

There are currently 7 fleets to choose from with a couple more on the way. The races are:
Humans - Good all rounders
Elves - Fast and manouverable
Dwarves - Slow and hard as nails
Chaos Dwarves (aka Shroud Mages) - Slow and with some cool magic abilities
Undead (aka Bone Griffons) - Awesome at mid range and they have Zombie Whales
Orcs - Excellent at boarding
Dragon Lords - They have dragons and magic

The game mechanics are fairly simple. Just lots and lots of dice. The game plays very quickly and the rules reward out manouvering or out thinking your opponent. A standard sized fleet will set you back between £18 and £32 pounds depending on the race. (Models with sails cost more). You barely need any terrain, and the rulebook is a nice, cheap £15. Rule changes and errata are available on the company's homepage for free, as well as trial rules for new models and previews of upcoming releases. All the 7 races have 5 or 6 ships to choose from with more on the way.

The company also produces a similar game called Firestorm which is a Sci-fi spaceship game similar to Battlefleet Gothic which I am also thinking of picking up.

If anyone wants a demo game, just let me know. I have an Elf fleet, a Shroud Mages fleet and a Human fleet.

Feedback from those who have played the game and comments from those interested are always welcome.

Mate, I am keen as mustard to play!! Haven't even seen the rule book yet but loved the look of it so much I started scratchbuilding a fleet!! Only one ship in so far but more are on the way when my hands have healed up.

Here is the first ship. Once I am feeling better I will get a log up and running in the painting section.

Nice Spevna-mate, Nice! The ship looks great, as does the marine base.
I will have to get my man o' War Bretts out and get 'em looking ship-shape. It's a pity Chaos doesn't really fit any of the US. fleets, as I have Khorne and Nurgle fleets too.

Cheers mate.

I can see this taking off well amongst our lot. It would be easy to fit a game in between 40k or WHFB.

Looks like US has some more new releases heading our way.

I just ordered a pack each of the Elf and Shroud destroyers. Along with my regular fleets and Flagships I am amassing quite a little armada.
I should really get my human ships based and painted up too....

The naval looks interesting, though choosing a fleet is going to be a challenge. But their SF looks really killer!

They just unveiled a new fleet for US.... Must resist urge to buy....

The game is awesome, and the space game works on a similar system so I imagine it would also be cool. I bought US instead of Firestorm because A) There were more fleets available and B) I had just bought some BFG stuff.

Uncharted Seas is getting some more new goodies soon
FOUR NEW UNCHARTED SEAS MODELS SET FOR RELEASE
We are very pleased to show you the next four releases for the Uncharted Seas fantasy naval game. The Bone Griffons are getting a Pestilence Cruiser which is a vessel designed to quite literally hurl balls of pestilence at an enemy vessel, killing its crews. The Elves have a new Cruiser with aerial combat in mind. The extended decks of the Viper allow highly skilled archers to engage airborne threats. The Human engineers have designed a Balloon that houses glider borne assault troops, and last, but certainly not least, we have the Orc Carnage Heavy Cruiser. This powerful vessel is home to some brutish Trolls who tread the decks looking for enemy vessels to attack by hurling huge boulders at them. Each Carnage model comes with Troll models to glue to its deck.
Pictures can be found here, just scroll down past the firestorm armada stuff. The trolls throwing rocks on the orc ships sounds cool.

If you dont play this game, you really should. It is fun, cheap and easy to play.

That troll ship looks excellent. I need to get my arse in gear and put in some more work on my ork fleet.
