Overcrowding at Joshin
Re: Overcrowding at Joshin
I found one of the missing table in the small room next door with a load of old pcs dumped on it last time.
Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.

V Important yes, but impossible. The group is simply too big and work schedules clash too often. Some people can't do saturdays, some can't do sundays, and some, though no fault of their own, can't even do either.i think its v important for us all to be able to get together at the same time once a month, occasional individual unavailability notwithstanding.
This ent moot is going to carry on till kingdom come as far as I can see. I say we leave the last sunday joshin's game day as is and have that as the main gaming day for the time being, so that everyone can go and game and socialise.
Those of us enterprising few who want to game twice a month or more (and I think there are enough of us) should set up some where else and game!
I don't know how many of us can come in May but, recent trends of over crowding suggest that there's no shortage of player support.

Re: Overcrowding at Joshin
@Jus: Umm, thanks for that, mate.
Can we assume you have badruckitis and haven't bothered to read any of the posts in this thread.
There are actually one or two things that need discussing before organising more events and/or a bigger venue, including, money, days, times, the Japanese guys etc etc. Leaving Joshin 'as is' isn't really viable solution either. Space was at a premium last month and will be again this time round.
As for calling this an 'ent moot', again thanks. Really helpful. If you are so keen for more action you can always join one of the outrider events up there in Gifu. BTW have you done any research on suitable venues that fit all the wants/needs of our groups?

Re: Overcrowding at Joshin
Pikey the Mike I think there is a very big problem in that there is not way to increase the space at the Joshin place.
I really think that the Mie guys would be better served if they supported an actual store with guys that play 40k in yokkaichi if you are a 40k player you really should consider going over there to play on the last sunday of the month instead of the Joshing event. It really is the best way to grow the hobby..
I really think if there were a cheap place that people want to use on a sunday they are going to have a very hard time finding one in Nagoya. I truly do not think you are going to find a place that fits all of your needs.
With all due respect to the Tajimi Event in Gifu... I would rather play in an un air-conditioned room at home than an un air-conditioned room in the hottest city in Japan filled with card gamers in a shop whose owner could care less about the game or the hobby.
Especially when one could go to the Yokkaichi Game ( Hosted on the second and last sunday of every month for more information call 09083385891) at least there the owner is a gamer and plays a in the campaigns he is really friendly and the room is about 3 minutes walk from Yokkaichi JR station the guys who play there are really fun I really wish they would come out to our events maybe if we play more games there they will come to some of our events.

The point is, it isnt the Mie guys or the Gifu guys we're talking about. DL, M_i_J and Ash come to Joshin a couple of times a year. Spevna and Voss almost never come. Whilst its very kind of you (and your church) to run an event on saturdays in Ogaki, it doesn't increase the space we have to play in Nagoya, nor does it reduce the number of players in Nagoya.Admiral-Badruck wrote:I really think that the Mie guys would be better served if they supported an actual store with guys that play 40k in yokkaichi if you are a 40k player you really should consider going over there to play on the last sunday of the month instead of the Joshing event. So, as has been said numerous times, the players in Nagoya need to speak to the Japanese players in Nagoya and discuss the several different options we have with regards to finding a bigger room in Nagoya to hold a regular Nagoya event. This didnt happen last time round since Kondo san who organises the Joshin event was absent. We have several options, including a community centre just around the corner from Joshin, which has bigger rooms at a slighlty higher price than is currently being paid.
P.s. And everytime I've been to Yokkaichi, they've A) ONLY played 40k and B) nearly filled the room themselves, which makes it less than ideal as an alternative.
P.p.s. I'm pretty sure Voss didn't get to choose the venue for the Tajimi event.

Re: Overcrowding at Joshin
I know that Voss did not nor has he ever had any say in the Tajimi location. I am simply saying that there is no point in comparing that with the Joshin event as I would not go to it even if it was closer to where I live and on a day I had time to do it. I am sure Voss understands what I mean.
As for the area around the current Joshin you are right there are options but do they fit price wise I think the consciences has been they are a bit over priced.
As for the Yokkaichi game I have talked to the owner and he said if there were more folks showing up to play then they would get more tables ready.. he also said that they would like to get in to FB and may start in to it soon. in fact the last time I was there they were talking about FB and going over the rules. If a pair of you showed up with FB then you could play and you would be the starts of the day.. I am sure of it..
I really think it is a bit silly that the Mie guys should be expected to travel to Nagoya every month to game if there is a perfectly good place to game that is closer and supports a fledgling group /store it is cleaner and Did I mention it is a way to support an actual brick and mortar store that has and Owner WHO REALLY CARES ABOUT THE HOBBY...this is unheard of in Joshin... the day that Ikeda runs and event I will be the first to come and support him but until he does. I say support your local game store...

Re: Overcrowding at Joshin
Nobody's saying that the Mie guys should have to come all the way to Joshin - Primarch's point was that they don't really come all the way to Joshin much anyway. If folks want to organize a get-together down Mie way I reckon it'd be terrific, but it also wouldn't do much to solve the overcrowding problem at Joshin, which is mostly because there are just so many folks in the Nagoya area these days who want to play. (I shouldn't have to, but since tempers seem to be running in this thread, I'll say emphatically that I don't somehow mean Mie folks or other out-of-towners are unwelcome in Nagoya or anything ridiculous like that.)Admiral-Badruck wrote:I really think it is a bit silly that the Mie guys should be expected to travel to Nagoya every month to game if there is a perfectly good place to game that is closer and supports a fledgling group /store it is cleaner and Did I mention it is a way to support an actual brick and mortar store that has and Owner WHO REALLY CARES ABOUT THE HOBBY...this is unheard of in Joshin... the day that Ikeda runs and event I will be the first to come and support him but until he does. This is also the reason that organizing a second day some day of the month in Nagoya and leaving Joshin "as is" wouldn't work, because I think it's unlikely that any of us only-once-a-monthers would opt for the "second day," leaving the Joshin crowding situation unchanged.
tl; dr: The problems of overcrowding at Joshin and inconvenience for out-of-towners are completely unrelated, and conflating them is only going to confuse this thread even further.
(I also, just for the record, think bagging on Ikeda is pretty dang low - he does a lot for the hobby, namely organizing a gaming event and handling the money for it every single month. If he didn't do that, most of us would probably never have met.)

As for the badruckitis thing, surely you saw the smiley at the end of the line(?). You know, the internationally recognised symbol that means the preceding statement may contain statements containing trace levels of humour. Surely, you have to admit that you have a long and distinguished record of asking about things in a thread that have already been answered previously in the thread.

As for your comments about the 'Mie Guys' no one expects them to come up to Nagoya each and every month. This thread is primarily about the future of the scene in Nagoya, specifically the future of the monthly gaming event at Joshin Kids Land (hence the title

@Jus: Soz, if the previous post sounded a little gruff. Big hugs and kisses if you are in the least upset.

Re: Overcrowding at Joshin
no sir, I read through the thread skipping over the posts that only you make. Can we assume you have badruckitis and haven't bothered to read any of the posts in this thread.

I said stay at Joshin for the time being, implying that when a new location (like the community center) is decided upon we all go there instead. Yes this event belongs to the Japanese players as much as us, and they have a say in this.
entmoot ...thats a joke. Now here's your emoticon

The crux of my post was to suggest that those of us who want to game twice a month take it upon themselves to do so. This would be independent of the regular nagoya event, so it need not concern our friends the japanese players....and this is only suggestion, so please don't crucify me.
As for balance and numbers.. Its been said that the joshin event sometimes has 14 people and sometimes it has only 3. What do they do when its the case where only 3 people turn up? Aren't the japanese players used to fluctuating numbers by now?
