Very small scale WW2 skirmish game. The minis look nice and are made to 1-48 so will fit in with the Tamiya range of tanks too.

I know nothing about it but thought it looked interesting.

At around 8 quid a model I think I'd be shopping around for figures though. They are quite nice and come with nice bases but even GW doesnt charge that for a basic infantry grunt. (Yet )

True that. I would rather just DL the rules from the site and use SOTR stuff or any othe WW2 manufacturer.

That might be a better idea. If the rules are up for free, then that is great stuff. Especially with Warlord (? ) releasing plastic WW2 kits

Thats because most of WW2 occured in Europe (1939-45), so most companies focus on that first. the Pacific (Dec. 1941-45) would be an expansion pack to the main game. Companies that sell WW2 stuff will release it eventually. Dont forget, multi-part, poseable plastic WW2 figures are kind of a new deal here. Tamiya and other kit providers have long since covered the Asia-Pacific stuff.

??? Well, fitting for Brit to say this. Considering the Japanese and the Chinese were going at it since '31/'35 the war started and ended in the "Pacific theater". But, even the Japanese break down the fronts of the war they fought into China, SE Asia and the Pacific.
I think to answer Badruck's point, it is more about gamer interest and the nature of the war in the war in the West. Particularly the desert war in N. Africa was really a tactician's and a war gamer's dream. On the other hand, the war in Asia doesn't play out so pretty with lots of disproportionate forces, bushwhacking and a rather cruel and ugly fighting on all sides.
It is true that FOW has had for years a pipe dream of creating a new focus on the Pacific, but it has been consistently pushed forward for years beyond the reach of any promises.

Ok, let me rephrase that. There was a war happening in the pacific between China and Japan (having started officially in 1937) before the outbreak of WW2, but the US and allied forces didn't get involved in it until 1941. Until that point it was the Sino-Japanese war. Since Badruck asked specifically about the Pacific War during WW2, I assumed he meant the point where the US was involved and according to Wikipedia (not the most reliable of sources, but definitely the most convenient), the Pacific War started at Pearl Harbour.
But I really think you're just arguing semantics.

Fair enough then. The Sino-Japanese war did take place in and around the pacific, but it is considered a separate event to the Pacific War from what I have seen (since it covered more of the pacific and more of the countries in that region I guess).
However, not being a historian or even a history major, I do expect to be wrong about some of these things.
