I've seen a 500 point baneblade wipe out a 95% of a 1000 point tau army geared towards killing super heavies before being destroyed.Admiral-Badruck wrote:I cant for the life of me understand why Flyers are that big of a problem you need a 6 to hit it I say bring on the fly boyz they never make there points back... Tau Drones that get close enough are bound to take them out... free Drone V 230 point flying Las Cannon... I welcome any one to bring as many as they want to any game against me... Super heavies are... not that hard core. most of the Ork Supper heavies are only armor 13... most other supper heavies cost as much as 100 ork Boyz I think 100 ork boyz or 600 points worth of Marines could well take down most of the Ork super heavies.. and one Blood Thirster at 270 points could take out a Baneblade with very little problem...
Flyers also have a rule whereby you add 12" to the range you measure. Gun drones would need to be sitting next to the flyer's base to be in range. Sure their armour isnt great, but they are immune to assault, flame templates, blast templates, are automatically out of rapid fire range, can only be hit on a 6, downgrade all penetrating hits to glancing hits, hit the side armour of vehicles, can move freely across the board and for a thunderbolt only clock in at 180 points, unless you want to give them 4 bombs or missiles in which case they are 220. All the TBolts guns also have a 48" range so you can be sure I'll be keeping it at maximum range for your return fire as much as possible. Taking down fliers is tough, and if you're dedicating enough firepower to do so, you aren't shooting other units.
How about an army of bloodthirsters against an army of Tbolts?
