spent about 5hrs on these chaps (i.e. a week, given the necessities of work, wife, and skyrim.)

@ash - due feb 15th, but could really come any time from now till about the 29th. earlier is better, for various reasons, and apart from owt else, the bairn is already more than big enough to come out (3.7kg or so)

next painty thing: the wagon and the driver. The wagon, btw, has actually had a fair bit of work done, but it doesnt photo well at all. Mostly shading/highlighting of metals, which the camera never gets right :(

*edit* contrast's a bit screwy. The red flak jacket is actually red (on the highlights, at least) and the skin on that grot's back is a v smooth transition from light to dark (airbrushed). Fear ye not...

colours used:

skin - gretchin green (yon undercoat colour) shaded with P3 coal black, highlighted with bone. baal red elbows, purple wash eyes.
reddish bits - terracotta, VMC umbral umber wash, blood red highlight
beige - tau ochre, bone highlight, umbral shadows.

Looking great MiJ! And I never fear when I wait to see the results of your painting :D Thanks for the inspiration of the day.

Also, good luck for the birth of the wee one - especially to Kaz. :)

Regarding the models, I especially liked the elbows, actually. Those kind of details go above and beyond, and its makes me start to think of what kind of realia I can add to my painting. The only thing I have done towards that end, however, was painting a bullet hole in my Space Marine's shoulder and scratches on the front of his bolter. But it is a good start.

The expression on the grot with the wrench is great. He looks run down and overworked. He reminds me of some salarymen I know. :D

no pics, but just to reassure badruck that work is being done:

base coloured about 70% of the panels on the main body of the trukk, with the intent of doing the others in a slightly different shade.
hazard lined in the spinny gubbins (same kind of yellow/black stripes as on the ork i did.) looks a bit lemony just now, but with sufficient weathering should be fine and grubby.

Painting the trukk is proving to be a bugger, as an airbrush is out of the question due to the hollowness of the mini (i.e. if I a/b anything, masking it will be such a bitch that I may as well just use a brush.)

Does anybody have any bright ideas for colours for the engine block/wheels/frame of the trukk? the armour panels, and general "wot colour is that mini" will be red, but I'm unsure as to where to go with the rest. At the mo it's entirely painted, shaded, highlighted and tinted in metallics. Theoretically it could just be left as-is, but it'd be dead boring and look not dissimilar to a metal mini dipped in ink

Thank y'all for your comments.
@koji - cheers for the faith. Keep that up, cos your elfylion girl may be quite some time in the coming :( gomen. The size of the trukk means it's taking quite a while. Working on it, tho, working on it...
Do you want a natural tawny lion, an old, grizzled dark-maned lion, or one of those poncy blue/white GW style lions? Or do you want it, yknow, pink, or something? :D

paints used: base red - mechrite red
hazard marks - VMA yellow, shaded with a dab of red, then a smidge of dark grey.

Well, having seen the insides and underside of my dad's old landrover, the engine block should be weathered metal with a thick layer of grease and oil built up around it. Not just a wash, but a glossy black goop in all the nooks and crannies. The chassis should have some thick brown and grey mud/dirt weathering put over the rusted metal frame, paying close attention to the areas behind and above the wheels as this is where all the crud gets sprayed when driving off road. The wheels likewise need muddying up with the centre of the wheels being the cleanest and the tires being the muckiest.
That what I would do if I was an awesome painter. As I am not, I would probably just use Devlan Mud and be done with it.

Therw will definitely be weathering aplenty. I was just wondering if their should be any actual paint on it (I mean, in-game paint. Yknow, red, or yellow or suchlike)
