Hmmn. I might have to check out this new fangled interwebnet gaming malarky. "Vassal" you say? Should be good for practice, if nothing else...

Well, my Khador stuff arrived yesterday (actually I'm still waiting on my plastic heavy warjack), and I opened up the boxes to take a look. I got my Winter Guard glued together, but it appears that I am missing a sniper from my Widowmakers box. There should be 4 models but I only got 3. I emailed the supplier, though I'm sure it was a packing mistake by PP.
Has anyone else had problems like this with their purchases for Warmachine/Hordes.

I guess I'll just have to read WM Prime whilst I'm waiting. :)

Yeah, there are sometimes mistakes with packing. My 10 man unit was missing its card. Just shoot an email to PP and they'll get you straightened out.

Well, still no response from the retailer, but I have had a chance to read some of the WM book.

I am right in thinking that the Widowmaker's Sniper rule lets them ignore the opposing warjack's armour and dish out a box of damage wherever they like? That seems awesome against light warjacks, and useful against heavy jacks.

Are there any units or solo's that will go well with Widowmakers? I think I can only have 1 squad in my force. (Field Allowance 1) I dont have the Khador book.

This is correct. And yes, since you can choose which area it goes into, its good for picking at that LAAAAAST box of that system you want to disable.

But they're probably best as anti-infantry, since most infantry have but a single box of health, which means that if they're hit, they're DEAD no matter how high their armor is. heh.

I don't play Khador so I don't know very well so I don't know what would be a good match for them, but maybe something that can give them Snipe or something like that? Sorry, I can't be much help there.

But yeah, don't waste time with the retailer, go straight to PP. It happens a bit more regularly than anyone would like, so PP will get something shipped out to you quick.

A packing mistake? .....Unforgivable. Widow makers, as Ennui said, can really put the hurt on single wound model units and can also damage Jacks at range, which gives them awesome versatility and work well with just about everything in the khador book ( ..flipping through it right now). Maybe a greylord ternion would be useful for dropping a cloud effect on them as they advance so as to gain that +2 defense bonus for being in cover without having to find a patch of trees.
Yay for having the models finally delievered, but its sucks that one didn't make it. Hope they get back to you on that.

For the models that did arrive and the warmahordes models we are painted/ currently working on, since they look so cool, I was thinking of maybe starting a dedicated miniature gallery here in the hordes/warmachine section of the forum (via photobucket e.t.c) I find the painting and modelling section a bit helter skelter and random is all. Would that be ok, or would that incur the wrath of the primarch?

You could just start a WarmaHordes only thread in the painting section. If you wanted to place it here I wouldnt be wrathful...probably :D

ooh, me too! am almost finished my 3 witches. am yet to start on my big floaty spikey enigmatic ball. But surely this painty chat is off topic, what with this being a Khador thread and all?

back on topic -

yes, I think widowmakers would be best used against infantry * (not that I know much about the game yet, but i have read the rules, at least.) rather than against jacks. That said, WM seems to be a game of combos, so if you can find a combo that works well for you with widowmakers vs whatever you like, then go for it.

* except mine. Mine are all stealthed, so ye canny shoot em outside 5".
