5 months in Nagoya
5 months in Nagoya
I am moving to Nagoya around January 1st until June 1st. I will be living near the central train station. I will be bring an army to paint and to play. I speak like zero Japanese at this time.
Re: 5 months in Nagoya
Welcome to NagoyaHammer.
I wouldn't worry too much about speaking Japanese, I managed to get by with only a very limited amount for my first few years here. You'll need to pick up a few phrases obviously, but most of the train lines have English signs and a lot of restaurants have pictures and/or English on the menu so you can usually just point at it and get what you want.
Which system(s) do you play?
Feel free to jump into any of the ongoing discussions or start your own if you feel like it.
Regards,
Prim.

You're safe then, we aren't playing 40K at that event.skkipper wrote:40k.

Welcome aboard. What army do you play? You have plenty of "K"s in your username, so maybe Orks?Primarch wrote:You're safe then, we aren't playing 40K at that event.skkipper wrote:40k.

Even if you are a panzy or a beaky or whatever, I hope we'll be seeing you around. You ought to try and stop by the game day and meet the guys. The Mrs. can't complain if you go and meet some guys to get some "living in Japan" advice, right?

Orks and chaos. The 2 k's come from skipper was already taken on yahoo when I got the email so I have stuck with it. I have been playing 40k since college in 1993. I will have no problem getting away for games. I will arrive in nagoya from Seattle on the second or third .

Welcome!
Do reserve the 3rd and 4th of May with your wife. That's the big 40k event in this community. (Usually I have to wheel and deal with my wife to get out to gaming events on vacation time.)
Hope to see you around.

Howdy skkipper - welcome on board. You shouldn't have too much trouble finding a game in Nagoya - most folks on this forum are based up there. Job's right when he says to make sure you're free for the games in May - that's defo the event of the year around these parts (although it's doubtless very small potatoes compared to game events in most other countries.)
Anyway - you'll likely find us to be a friendly enough bunch. We tend not to play too competitively, as a lot of us have so many work/family commitments we just dont have the time to get the games in, but there are a few of us who can, when requested, bring our A-game to the table. Personally I've not had the chance to play 40k since May this year, but that's largely due to having a small baby at home, coupled with a too-many-weekends job and living away out in the boonies (I'm in Mie prefecture, not nagoya).
So, by all means join in the chat, and welcome to the boards

Welcome!
I live pretty close by to Nagoya Station (and work even closer).
Sounds like you're here on a short term work assignment?
