@Ten - I can't view that page without signing up. Want to give us a brief overview?

Today I read a blog about someone's preheresy Ultramarines project and then looked at the cost of doing a proper FW army. Then I cried a little. After work today I plan on doing more work on my Black Powder army.

As a comparison,
I can buy 30 FW marines (FW have a discount bundle available).
Or
364 Napoleonic British for the same price.

Now, I don't actually need 364 British, but I would need substantially more than 30 marines.

Basically, participants are eligible for a grand prize draw (TBA) and other participation prizes if you can complete a new army by December 2013, and you increase your chances by getting one army unit done per month. (You have to show before and after photos.)

Completed a Carnivean last night and started work on Lylyth1 again. Will finish her tonight and get started on the Circle side of the 2 player boxed set.

I have about 5 days until school starts, and am in a rush to get as much painting done as possible as I never have time to do any painting once my terms start.

Sorry, I made a mistake. I forgot to include shipping and the fact that Victrix are available from various other retailers.
It should read 30 FW marines to about 545 Napoleonic British. :o

Ah, that's far closer to what I would've expected

*edit* is it just me, or is anybody else wondering how 30 marines would play against 545 napoleonic British. Could be fun, given the right game system. It'd certainly be messy...

Today I did some highlighting on some horses, updated some parts of the forum and then generally wasted most of my evening browsing the interweb. D'oh!

And this is fantasy. As long as the points are paid and the other player knows what the model represents, I am cool with it. Adds to the flavor of the game.

I am Just using different models. I prefered the regular termies compared to the grey knight ones to be honest. But im never one to go with the grain. I like to personalize my army. One of a kind thing. Going with artificier armor and the wings are used as shields to give them their invulnerable save. Plus they all have force swords to give them the extra bonus invulnerable save. Again. I'm just using the grey knight codex for my own army. It wouldn't be right having grey knights as another army.
Totally understand. I use the Ork Codex for my "Squats", the ones I've made out of chopped down and puttied Ork figures. I use the IG codex when I blow the dust of my RT era real Squat miniatures. One of the guys (Miguel-san?), has not a single GW fig in any of his armies. Make the figures first and then find the rules that fit best.

Though I disagree with you on using the Grey Knight Terminators in another army. I didn't like them at first, but they are starting to grow on me. Maybe Mega-Armoured Nobs/Squat Hearthguard in Exo-Armour? ;)
Exactly.if you want to use the ork codex to make a squat force and you tell the other player exactly what each unit and character is, cool. If you pay the points and it works for you, great.

Actually I am not using grey knight terminators in another army. It's a grey knight army with grey knight terminators. Just using a different name for the army instead of grey knights.

And what if you want to play a new army that just came out with your marine army. Should you have to pay out for a whole new army just to use the new codex. I like the news dark angels army does but hate the miniatures. So, I just use suitable miniatures and keep the opposing player informed.
