ASC depends on getting my hands on Tyranid Warriors, as 5000 yen for a box of 3 from GW is just too steep. I have my ear to the ground and check eBay a bunch, and while you can pick up those 2nd edition metal Nids cheaply, and they would fit with my "acceptance of old-school silliness" aesthetic, metal doesn't fit with my ideas on transport. Sooo, I'm not sure.
As long as you are not just planning to toss the figs loose in a box, metal shouldn't be a problem. "Old school silliness" trumps all other considerations!

That is, as a matter of fact, pretty much exactly what I'm planning on doing. :) You've seen how I transport my goblins, haven't you?

All in a big heap. The only way to travel for plastic orcs and goblins. :) Same here. Actually some of them are magnetised now to save on time.

We just had the recognised silence at school to remember the 2nd anniversary of the earthquake. Thoughts and prayers with everyone today.

I didn't do any painting over the weekend due to an overabundance of alcohol related shenanigans. Today I had a few hours break between classes where I managed to get a few licks of paint onto a model.

Put another 8 stands' worth of 6mm marines on bases. Later tonight I'll try and get the base decoration down on them, plus some genestealers and some orks for ASC, the latter of which I have doctored up a tiny bit to show off their mind-slaved nature.

I gotta say, the terracotta texture from Kahma is a godsend when it comes to base decoration. Works a treat, even in 28mm.

WIP pics of a couple of gantries I've got in the works. Like the old Necro terrain, but I'll add more rivets and plates and wires and things.

I like those a lot.

Are they made from card or plasticard?

Cardstock, courtesy of the the recycle bin at school. I'm on a looooooow budget. The gold bits are this foil coated thin cardstock. I have tons left over from building this papercraft Mjolnir (Thor hammer). I dent the back side with a ballpoint pen and make rivets. I've done it with regular card, but this foil stuff ends up with sharper looking detail. I'll start gluing rails and pipes and things next.
