But Dave's point still stands.

Comparing a power armour costume with actual, possible power armour is not the same as comparing what the Wright brothers flew at Kitty Hawk with a modern fighter jet.

One is purely cosmetic, possible power armour would not be.

The Wright brothers' first plane, while basic and not that great, did actually work.
The wright brothers they invented the guided missile not an air plane. The air plane as we know it was invented by santos dumont...

Fair enough. But the point still stands. ;)

The suit works as well comparatively it looks extremely mobile... With some improvements in its mobility and it could be ready for war soon.

While it is purely cosmetic it that is not to say that it does not function remake ably well. I think my comparison is reasonable because like it or not as the suit sits right now it offer him a great deal of protection above what he would have if he were naked. While the design is cosmetic the suit is still functional the suit could be made more functional by sacrificing cosmetics.

I also think that the Santos Dumont plane is perfect example of something functional but in no way ready for war being improved on until it is ready for war.

Some
improvements? Improvements like;

not being made out of fibre glass
having an actual power source
greater mobility
the ability to stop a bullet

Those are pretty big improvements mate.

And I still think your comparison is flawed. Your first comparison is a costume and something designed for protection.

Your first comparison is something designed for flight and another thing designed for flight.

The first comparison is between two entirely different things.

The second comparison shows a technological progression.

A better comparison would be:

Soooooo...

What is that? A fibreglass mockup of some dude's concept of a future soldier? Cos seriously, if that was in production that would be on the news. The fact that its a suit of armor looking thing is irrelevant. The point spev and I are driving at is that appearance is irrelevant if the technical issues haven't been overcome, and power source, bulletproofness, weight and stuff like "where does he pee?" are all pretty damn critical to making a functional suit of power armour.

*edit* right, I've decided to see what I can dig up with regards to actual power armour. A good start is this:

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/HULC

It's not armour yet, but it is a wearable powered load-bearing system.

Oh, and http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/HAL_5 - retribution of scyrah, anyone?

There's a good list of the hurdles in the wiki article here:
