Tonight I watched an hour of Waterloo to get in the mood and remember Le Gloire.

Then I did a bit of work on the single cuirrasier's base and put some more paint on the DA scouts.

A quick opinion poll:

I make and cast up bases for all my 40k armies. My nurglies are all on swampy wormy bases, my craftworlders are all on desert themed bases, and my dark Eldar are all on ruins-of-Eldar-civilisation bases.

What should my corsairs be standing on? I don't wanna do space ship, cos that'll look daft on most tables. Any ideas? I'm at a bit of a loss, tbh...

Ps - I've done forest bases for my cryx and snowy rocks for my trolls, so I'd rather do something different to those for the corsairs.
Flowered bases. Something nice and bright. Maybe throw a bit of white picket fence or gazebo in here and there for accent.

I agree with Konrad.

Alternatively, some ruined imperial city bases would fit with them being raiders and so forth. Dead humans everywhere etc etc.

But yeah, flowery bases FTW!

Right-oh. Ruined imperial city with body parts and flowers it is then :D

I actually think that'd work. It would echo the very Eldar idea of hope-after-desolation, as well as being simple enough to model (I have an imperial building scenery set somewhere, courtesy of Prim) and the flowers would break up the mono-grey. I'll need to buy some teeny tiny flowers, but I suspect Secret Weapon or somebody of that ilk produces something I'll be able to use.

I finally finished some reinforcements for my BP Russians, just in time for the big dust-up tomorrow. Should be a blast! Za Rodinu!

I also got my copy of Codex Eldar in the mail. Nearly 2 weeks after the official release (from the US) and only marginally more expensive than the GWUS sticker price. Nothing new that we didn't already know but it's a nice looking book.

Today I packed up all my stuff for tomorrow's BP event. No painting for me.

Same here. I just quickly packed for the event. I will of course only be bringing models (unless Prim would like me to bring some kind of terrain or table mat). That and I feel like conqueoring more of the Mediterranean in RTW! :D

Painted the highlights on a bunch of gems. I hate gems :(

I originally thought, a week or so ago "lets get back into Eldar with a small unit. 3 support weapons. That shouldn't take long."

Wrong. 3 support weapons is actually:
3 platforms (each a bit bigger than a jetbike)
6 crew
9 weapons

All of which have gems, and need to be, yknow, painted.

Getting bored with em now, cos my ever-skippy mind wants to make bases for my pirates :(

Gah. Dang attention span :(

How many gems? Every oval bump, just the ones with a border, or just the waystones? I decided long ago that only ovals with a surround are "gems"; by that metric, the only gems on the Support Weapons are the Guardians' waystones.
