Made great progress on my Bolt Action Home Guard this weekend, thoroughly enjoyed myself doing it. Mostly Foundry Home Guard models, supplemented with warlord vehicles and plastics. The plastic BA infantry kits especially are very flexible, very impressed with them in that regard. Sculpts are decent, very good but not stellar, no complaints though. Vehicles, as others have found, do seem a tad titchy, especially a carden lloyd bren carrier which seems to be crewed by hobbits!
Colour-wise Working out how best to do British fatigues has been a bit of a head scratcher. It seems everyone does it in a different way, and the colours varied anyway, so you cant go too far wrong. I have a method which is working for me now, just by undercoating with tamiya olive drab spray, adding a few base colours, inking then highlighting. All in all this BA project is a blast and reminds me why I do this hobby. :D

Today I made some more Russian Liberation Army troops for my BA Germans and put together an MMG for them as well. I did a bit more painting on some Napoleonic Dragoons and put the base colour down on a few more Mantis Warriors.

That's why I've been using the 1:48 Tamiya stuff. May not be the right scale but it looks better on the board.

+1. The BA stuff is ok, but I like the chunkiness of 1:48 better. It does take hours to build and small parts will often snap off, but I think it is worth it.
In fairness, the Carden Lloyd was a tiny vehicle, shorter than a Mini Cooper.

Today, for the first time in about a month, I actually took out a mini and did some work on it. Granted, said work amounted to nowt more than taking it out the bag and clipping it off the sprue, but it's a start, and a significant one, as it means my hobby desk is finally approaching useable status. The room itself is still in a bit of a mess, but progress is being made. I also finished building the cover for my fan, and woodstained it. Once that's dry I can stick on stuff like insulating felt and a wee catch and then it'll be done. I'm tolerably happy with it. Could be better, for sure, but for a first attempt it's no bad.

Oh, I have a question: does anybody know what size base a maulerfiend goes on? I plan on converting Vossy's HPA into one, and I need to know what kind of base to build it around. Ta much in advance :)

Ta. Would that be a flyer base, then, just without the stand?

Sounds to me like someone has succumbed to the GW Big Beasty sales push
