today my new PC arrived.

Windows 8: The jury is still out. It's a strange fish, for sure. But, 15 mins of tinkering in and I've managed to get the whole shebang into English, as well as getting my facebook, email and so on and so forth on my main not-homepage screen. Oh, and I've installed Firefox, which is always my go-to browser. So far, so good. Touching the screen is still odd to me, though...

Today I managed to spray undercoat a load of Bob Murch minis and some misc. I'm painting a new Black Powder commander for next weeks game and preparing some strange aeons.
Looking forward to getting some gaming in mini wise finally.
I also finished a marvel masterworks Fantastic 4 omnibus. This was all during my sons nap time so I'm feeling rather pleased with myself.

@MJ, windows 8 is touchscreen? Wow

Today I got a few hours painting in on my IG squad and my British Dragoons. Nothing is finished yet, but they are looking more and more like painted minis and less like they are fresh out of the box. :D

Played a game Bolter Action 40,000 with Primarch Vanguard... His Eldar stomped me fairly well. But I gave him hell.

Continued with the usual interminable setting-up-a-new-PC process. Obviously, after installing 8.1 I have to then go back and re-do all the language preferences that I just did yesterday

Hobby-wise, I made some quite good progress on the Hulk. I started filling the gap between his flesh body and his machine body. Huge big nasty gap there that is going to require a major bit of fiddly sculpting :( Still, first things first: fill that gap...

Quite a full day. Getting used to driving again after a couple of years. It's a bit nerve wracking in 5 lanes of Nagoya traffic but I made it to Nitori with my wife, where we chose a swanky work/computer desk and chair for my early xmas present, as well as a Christmas tree and all accompanying bits of shiny tat. Lots of fun, and nice to have an excuse to buy one. A tree seems like the done thing now that I'm married and soon to be a Dad.
Hobby wise, with the help of painting guides, advice from forum folk and google, finally ascertained the colour scheme for some Perry French Hussars and reckon I am half way done on a unit of 12 cavalry (6 stands) for a BP game next weekend. 3rd Hussars circa 1807 is the winner, as it is one of the regiments the fictional Brigadier Gerard was with (the Brigadier Gerard stories are by Conan Doyle, for the uninitiated, great fun- featuring an egotistical, none-too smart but likeable cavalry officer). Their uniforms are mostly blue and red, so not as many colours to worry about, also a big factor.

@Badruck - I'm assuming you used standard 40K rules with the Bolt Action random activation system? How did it go? Any problems with the rules? The only thing I can think of that wouldn't work easily would be Seize The Initiative and special characters who pay for abilities relating to that roll. Still sounds like fun.

@Lovejoy - Glad to hear you could make a choice about your Hussars. How is your BP collection going these days?

This weekend I was mostly either working or sick or looking after my sick fambly, but I got some work done on a test mini for my chaos marine contingent - I'm going with Alpha Legion since the colors are sufficiently different from anything I've done so far, and fluff-wise it seems reasonable that a squad or so might have been overwhelmed by the Nids. It's turning out OK so far.

I loved it

It worked really well we tweaked the BoltAaction rules a quite a bit. I think it may have been more fun with pure Boltaction rules but PV had a system he had been working on and I am not too married to sysetms to not try something new.

That said PV's system worked very well. We used cards for each of our units and players took turns flipping over cards for thier own units. That way each player got to have thier turn after the other. Seemed a bit more fair but for me a little less random an therefor less like a battle.

We never had any assaults. So I don't know how that would have worked out. But I can see that bing a real mess in multiple assaults.

I liked how reserves and deep strike worked out. Roll for the card if it comes in then add it to the deck. If the come in late they can drop shoot and the next turn they might get shot by a unit but then if thier card is drawn they can act.

I wish there was a way to control the cards a bit more but I do not like too much control.

Psychers got to act at the start of the turn. And I thought that sucked. As I did not have any psychers... I think they should activate powers in their own step order. But like I said and as most people know I hate psychers and with they were not a part of 40k.

Seize the initiative just ment that you could flip your card first going first is no longer such an advantage or disadvantage. So I am not sure characters that help with that will be worth taking if that is all they do.
