Today I had 8 hours of man to man classes, one of which was the same guy for 6 hours.
Flippin eck. Otsukare sama. Have a beer. :)
Forget about yesterday, don't worry about tomorrow because all that matters is today.

Blimey Charlie, Prim. 6 hours with the same guy would be enough to reduce your brain to mush, unless he was Brian Blessed or something (in which case it'd be your ears reduced to mush instead.) Otsukaresama indeed.

Today I painted!

Yeah, I'll wait a moment to let that sink in.

That's right, yeah, you heard me. PAINTED! Te evil scourge of kanji study has been vanquished (for the nonce. We all know evil never truly dies) and I have actually out brush to mini for the first time in about 4 months. I'll allow myself a little w00t.

w00t

It was a couple of space marine lookin' dudes from Bones that I'm painting for moyashimaru. Nothing too fancy, and still early days yet, so no pics. Maybe tomorrow :)

Still, MiJ is a happy chappy being back on the hoss :)

Good for you M_i_J.

This morning I started painting in the skin on my Roman unit. I also opened day 3 of my advent calendar. I'm not sure if the chocolate inside was supposed to be a Christmas Tree or not, but I must say that abstinence totally rocks. :D

Sorry to hear that. Moving to a new job might help, so keep looking for something that sounds appealing. We'll keep our ears to the ground and let you know if we hear anything. Best of luck mate.
Five applications submitted, an interview today. Three inquiries out. Need to talk to pikies boss about an interview. I think I need a new email account just to track all this stuff. Oh and told my boss that I was looking and he's now trying to retain me, believe it or not. My head is spinning.

I'm guessing Ichinomiya-Gifu city area? That's really convenient! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Incidentally,
@Badruck, Apoc game at Voss's new place? :D

Seriously though, I hope it all goes well for you. A change of job, a change of scenery and being within spitting distance of a lot more gamers will probably do you good. (Or drive you insane with constant 20,000 point mega-battles being fought on your doorstep every weekend).

@ Voss: Awesome! If you can get a position in Ichinomiya that would be great. It is a matter of fact kind of my second hometown. Of course now that you've got the ball rolling keep trying for positions. You never know if the next one will be nicer and better suited to you. Keep it up and gambaru!

A thread came up on the Warlord Games forum at the weekend, and I am sure the same topic has been mentioned on here before as well, but it basically amounted to "How many models did you paint this year?"

Yesterday I sat down and counted.
100 Celts
61 Romans
40+ Russians
20+ Germans
80 Napoleonic British
48 Zulus
50 Victorian British
22 Space Marines
10 Imperial Guard
10 Reaper Fantasy minis
1 Tyranid Carnifex
12 Skaven
2 Necron Night Scythes
4 Tamiya WW2 Tanks/Armoured Cars
1 Khador Warjack
Assorted terrain pieces.

Which brings my total to about 450 minis for the year, give or take. Thats counting vehicles, cavalry and weapons teams as one model by the way. To put that in perspective, if I had painted nothing but bolt gun armed tactical space marines, that woud work out at about 6500 points without upgrades or optional gear.

Not too shabby you may think. Whilst I don't have M_i_J or Tenorikuma's brush skills, or Spevna's ability to knock out an army in a couple of days, you would think I would be happy with that total. Well, I was until I carried the figures through to next year.
Assuming I manage 500 minis next year, a not unreasonable target, that will see me finish off my Romans and Celts, my Anglo-Zulu war minis and my Napoleonic army and that is it. 500 figures won't touch my 40K or FB armies. It won't get near my Warmachine, Malifaux, Reaper or any other set of figures. I have waaaayyy too many minis. Damn you mathematics!
Oh well, I guess I should start planning my painting schedule for 2015. :D

Anyone else care to work out how many minis they have done this year?

I'm going to go on between 20 and 30. hard to paint when stress just won't let you get into your zen painting mode.

Also lined up another job interview. This one though is in Tokyo so it would leave me safe from any ork/marine apocolypse wars. comes with a nice pay raise though. would mean having to find all new victims to unleash my armies against.

Go for it man! We'd miss you around Nagoya, but Tokyo leaves so many more opportunities. Lots of wargaming. Lots of girls, too. Of course if you like it more around the Chubu area, I couldn't blame you either. :)

This morning I was able to do some highlighting on my Panzer III s.
