What did you do today.
Re: What did you do today.
Today I got a unit of Celts finished and varnished. Once the varnish dries they need their bases doing. I hope to have them ready by the Joshin event on the 23rd.

Re: What did you do today.
Last night I watched Kelly's Heroes and finished building my Tamiya 1/48 Panzer 2.
Today I hope to get some sand put down on the bases of my Celts and my Romans.

Re: What did you do today.
I'm trying to rebuild a badly-assembled second-hand Land Raider. I'm starting by dissassembling it and chiselling off the encrusted globs of superglue.
Got the hull reassembled - gluing the hatches closed because the bits for the front hatch mechanism are missing.

I find that Simple Green does a good job of shifting superglue. A long soak will help with removing it.AndrewGPaul wrote:I'm trying to rebuild a badly-assembled second-hand Land Raider. I'm starting by dissassembling it and chiselling off the encrusted globs of superglue.

Today I got a layer of sand put down on the bases of my Romans and Celts. Definitely need to get those finished off as I may have 2 people for the demo of Hail Caesar next week.
I also built a Tamiya kit today, a 1/48 scale GAZ-67B, a Russian version of the US. Jeep.

The day I find myself mail-ordering household cleaners is the day I have myself committed.Primarch wrote:I find that Simple Green does a good job of shifting superglue. A long soak will help with removing it.
Re: What did you do today.
Fair enough. I get mine from a place just across the road, though I should probably still consider getting myself committed.

Re: What did you do today.
Oi! Some of us have to mail order household cleaners cos we live in wierdy foreign parts where Fairy Power Spray is something for keeping the flitty wee buggers out of the rose bushes. I get my simple green from amazon, and am frankly bloody pleased that I can do so. Took me months to find the stuff here.
This weekend I basically did bugger all (well, played some Starcraft). Kaz was sick with a migraine, and I have a cold. Migraine trumps cold, so I ended up taking care of Sean the whole time. It occurred to me late on Saturday evening that Kaz would probably not be impressed that his food for the day consisted of KFC, scrambled eggs on toast, baskin robbins and a sausage roll. (And, to be fair, I made honey mustard chicken and sweet potato mash, too). Sean wasn't complaining, mind you...

No progress in this weekend.
Weather is too cold to can not do modeling or painting.
Just read rule or army book.

Got a good bit of sculpting done this weekend. I recently had one of my GorkaSquats go to the Docs with a wounded eye and come out of da Operatin' room sporting a pair of steel horns. Got a good start on him. I'm also working on a Slaver model. I have a kunnin' plan to built him a net even. I cobbled together some random wire armatures. Always good to have something experimental going on for extra putty. May try building some Diggas on the side.
Tried mixing Greenstuff and Milliput. Interesting effect. I made some belts out of a 1/2 and 1/2 mix. Cut nice and smooth like Milliput, but with more firmness and stretchyness like greenstuff. Sort of had a soapy texture when smoothing. Worked well for big, smooth areas, but I wouldn't have tried building noses or anything detailed with it.

@andrewgpaul, Brown (not green) Dettol does the business, used it a shedload during my last stay in the UK. Strips plastic and metal without damage, just leave the stuff you are stripping in tupperware overnight. You might whiff of disinfectant afterwards though.
