Yeah, they aren't perfect, but hard to deny they've got something different. I'm determined to get through them, although they're gruelling at times. The good bits are great, and make up for the ponderous millings about in the desert / forests / icy wastes. The TV series seems to be a better, pacier vehicle for the story though.

I think Victoria Lamb minis makes some not-Praetorians, come to think of it.
I hadn't seen the Victoria Lamb minis before, some great stuff there!

Hmm. I've now seen the warlord Dad's Army stuff, which was of real interest because I have a Home Guard army and wondered if they had anything useful for me. In my opinion the Foundry versions (sculpted by the Perrys) which I already own capture the character of the..er, characters, much more accurately. And the warlord price is 10-15 GBP more than what I think they're worth. Curious about the leaflet which comes with the box with rules for running Dad's Army in BA though. Must get more info.
Maybe I'll finish some juves tonight if I have the energy.

I must say, I wasn't very impressed with most of the sculpts.

Really cool.

Today I worked a bit on my cultists, a bit on my Panhards and also worked on flocking up my Napoleonic bases.

Spent what felt like forever but was actually an hour or so drilling holes in my tanks so I can magnetise them. I haven't even started on the guns yet (just turrets and wave serpent sticky outy bits) and am seriously considering just glueing the damn things on.

What say you - would it be ok for me to just tell you what a gun is supposed to be rather than wysiwyg-ing it? There are 6 different guns, available in pairs or mixed. 8 vehicles in my army. Ok, or not on?

@MiJ: Well, I mean, that's what most people do, isn't it? That or, as AGP says, just pick one relatively general-purpose gun and go with it, even if it's not the "best choice" for whoever your current opponent is.

I mean, the latter is what I always did when I played a bunch of 40K. My dreadnought had autocannons, even if another loadout would have been "better," because autocannons was what I had chosen when I built the model. It wasn't always optimal, but them's the breaks. Isn't that the way the game is traditionally played? Maybe I'm being a bit crotchety this evening, I dunno.

@ MiJ: I agree with your AGP and ToD entirely. You can proxy, but I think you'll have a greater sense of ownership and satisfaction if you just play with what you've got. Kind of simple, beautiful WYSIWYG, but nothing against occasional proxies either.

Additionally, I think you'll get the appreciation of your opponents when you don't have to use proxies. (Again, if you have to use proxies, it is understandable.)

I might add, I think you'd be most satisfied if you go the extra mile and do the magnetizing. Nothing is so cool as a model that can swap out combinations, like that lioness you did for Kojibear. (I remember a guy in my old gaming group that magnetized his Predators so he could make a rhino, razorback, or any load out of Predator and vehicle options. It was very cool. ) An accomplished modeler like you I think would come away very proud. Anyway, I want to see what you would make. :D Good luck with the modeling whatever you do.

Edit to prior post: Worked on a bit of basing also.
