@badruck. I was looking forward to seeing more Nagoya players as well. It's been too long. And definitely Not because of money. I could care less about it. I wanted to show people how good an event can be. That by the end, you are having so much fun with the scenarios, you have forgotten the competition side. As from the feedback from my last event showed, Everyone was having so much fun, they weren't even talking about scores at the end. I can't remember ever laughing so much at any event I've ever attended. Yes some people don't like the turn sequence or house rules but not a single model is not allowed or strategy is really nerfed unless you are a power player. And these people I don't want at my events. They are simply not good enough players to win should they have to adapt or play fairly. I'm not losing sleep over it. I made a list of the people I knew would come and they are all coming except for one due to a real, real life situation. If more had come, fantastic. Everyone had plenty of time to make time to make it down. I built two huge walls at my school last Sunday, manage the school, teach, have a relationship, have to go to court this Thursday to finalize my daughter being kidnapped by japan, picked up some new privates, painted up a dreadknight and work out every day but I'm not making excuses why I couldn't organize this event. Character is what it is. And I'm looking forward to seeing those coming for a great day of fun and gaming!

And today was a busy day. Still a bit sick but I worked out, taught a private class, had a business meeting, taught again, built two drop pods, went back to class and then cycled before getting to this post. Time for bed.
The one, the only.

There are a lot of reasons why more people aren't coming to your event, but I doubt it's because any of us are power players who can't cope with using your special rules as you seem to be implying. Whether any of those reasons are 'real' enough for you, I don't know, but for the people who they effect, they are real enough. Attendance at an event is based on a lot of different factors, not all of which people may know about in advance. I've never had anyone cancel coming to an event because they couldn't be bothered to show up. Everytime someone has cancelled, they have had a reason to do so, so I figure it's better to cut them a little slack and hope they can make it next time around. But that's just me.

On the painting side of things, I started painting some Malifaux models this morning. I've had them for ages, so I figure I should do something with them. Not much progress made so far, but hopefully I can get in an hour or two over the next couple of days and start making some headway.

Sorted my shit out today and turned a corner with home troubles I'm thinking.
Everybody online, looking good.
The miniatures are calling. Buy us, paint us
Well less of the buying and more of the painting.

Certainly, painting is far cheaper and saves space.

Worked on building my Bolt action weapon teams.

Work is very busy, so not much energy for hobbies. However, ordered some stuff from Perry and Wayland to expand my Black Powder French. More line infantry, a couple of cannon, some voltigeurs. That should round things off. Hope to finish more Dredd minis tonight if I can summon the willpower.

Did a bit of work on the unit of dragoons on the workbench, but mostly felt the effects of Deus Ex being on sale for 5 bucks on Steam last weekend...

Did some more work on my Malifaux crew. After spending the last year or so focussed on batch painting big blocks of infantry in identical colours, it's nice to be able to bounce back and forth over half a dozen unique sculpts and colour schemes.

painted some more dirt. And bricks, and broken bits of wood. Hmmn. A ruined city base scheme seemed like such a good idea at the time, but dang all that brownish-grey gets old fast. That said, I hope it'll work as an effective counter balance to the blingswoosh I intend to paint all over my corsairs. I'm also quite pleased with how the flyer base is turning out, although it's a tad darker than I had visualised it. Not sure how to brighten it all up, and not sure if I even should. Anyway, today was mostly spent painting bases :)
