For 105 points he's not too bad in smaller games. In bigger games he doesn't really hit that hard. Outside of a Tyrant's Legion list he probably isn't so good as his main benefit is making Retaliators a Troops choice.
Had a look at the latest stats. I'd need to convert some sort of remote harness for Sumatris' bolter - something like Inquisitor Covenant's psycannon. I should have a spare tech marine servo-arm I can work from. Commodus is trickier, in that I don't even know what his melee weapon is meant to be.

In the meantime, I'm using the event-only MkIII Boarding Marine as my captain.

@AGP - The boarding marine is a nice mini, (naturally, as it is FW). Commodus is meant to be using a chain axe. I used an arm from a Khorne Bezerker on my scratch build.

Started moving again today. Nice new tatami mats in an old house. Sort of strange but ah well.

Doing it by myself mostly I think. Need to find someone to help with the big stuff still.

Hello from a Burger King in Auckland :)

Getting wifi here is harder than I'd thought it'd be. Still, BK to the rescue. Their onion rings are nice, too :)

Things I have learned about NZ.
1) folks are pretty decent
2) the obligatory first-meal-in-new-country-kebab was also pretty good
3) chocolate is darn expensive
4) it's quite hot here. Shoulda brought shorts.
5) they have a frickin' king-under-the-mountain in the airport. Of this I approve :)

In other news, I actually did paint a little today. Just a corsair. No pics till squad is done :)

That is all. Carry on :)

Oh, ps and stuff: I watched 3 movies recently.

The hobbit blahblah smaug: I enjoyed it. Twasnt the book by any stretch, but forewarned not to expect that it stood pretty well on its own merits.

Gravity: bloody good. Watching on a plane was better than expected. Small screen was a minor annoyance, but the sunrise out the plane window was particularly poignant afterwards. We are on such a teeny tiny pale blue dot filled with beauty etc.

Oblivion: surprisingly good sci fi. I suspect if Tom Cruise wasn't the star it'd e hailed as an indie cult classic. Defo worth a watch.

Today I painted a Samurai. I cleaned the model up after breakfast, primed it and got the base colours on by lunchtime and got it finished off this afternoon. Just a coat of varnish to do and it is done on the painting side of things. I'm not sure about how I am going to base it yet. A single base for skirmish games, or a group base for Hail Caesar. Hmm....

I approve of your due diligence in regard to kebabs. I shall fast track your status as an honorary Turk.

Picked up some clump foliage over the weekend and made some more trees. (Also saw Frozen twice in four days.) Now I have lots of extra foliage, a few extra tree trunks and no more washers for bases - I fear it's going to turn into a hot dog / hot dog bun situation and I'll end up with thousands of the buggers before I use up all my materials at the same time.

Tonight I'll touch up the basecoat on the last of the Iron Warriors and get started on them.
Feel free to call me Dave!
