@dekana - CMON can be a bit daunting, but dont worry - theyre a friendly bunch. If you want specific advice (or more general) by all means ask me. I'm more than happy to witter on at great length about painty stuff, as other forum members can attest to

@Dekana: Glad to hear you took the dive into the hobby. IG should be a slog, but it should provide for lots of fun and possibilities with modeling.

As for paint, I recommend Vallejo because the droppers protect the paint from drying, the price is modest, the range is great and a lot of colors are made to match the GW range. I personally mix GW and Vallejos myself and once in a while use a Tamiya. Good luck!

Oh, and there's supposed to be a GW store in Toyoake from what I hear. That's kind of out of walking distance, but it might be closer for you than Kamimaezu.

Personally, I will put paint and brush on some models tonight, but which one is uncertain.

Edit: I worked a tid bit on my 15mm StuG and some of the Angels of Vengeance.

@Dekana - The only advice I can give you is the advice to which very few of us adhere to, buy something and paint it before you buy the next thing and have to paint that, too :D Of course, none of us really mind playing with unpainted minis, just seeing them sitting on your desk at home unpainted can be a daunting prospect. But as I said, too late for most of us :D ;)

Shake the paint pots well, be careful of watering the paints down to much, watch for drips of water sliding down the brush while you're painting, and at the beginning keep it simple - Prime, Base Coat, Wash, Highlights.

As for me - thanks to everyone for the advice about the xxx Corps and the 4th Dorset Battalion. Lots of projects I would like to get on with in addition to Bolt Action: finishing the nids and Eldar, beginning the Raptors, painting up my Kaeris Malifaux Crew, building and painting four lion riding Wood Elf sisters - probably contact you MiJ for advice in that department as you did such an amazing job with the one you did for me. Arigatou! :D

Regarding lion riding Wood Elves, I don't suppose anyone has a Lelith Hesperax model for sale as the mini does make for a nice rider? Or any other female elf mini that may be suitable to ride a lion? :?:

@kbear - don't attach the riders to the lions till you're finished, and make sure to fill any gaps between the two halves of the lion's torso, especially around the arse area. You do not want slitty bum lions, as it could easily lead to opponent's mockery. :D

Managed a meagre hour of hobby after coming home from a hard days graft. Basecoats continue on the Dredd Justice Dept. minis. I don't have time to get a few hours run at them until weekend, possibly. But any small progress is progress. Still reckon this weekend will see them completed.

@Dekana - I used the horses that came with the minis as different eras tend to have different styles of harness.

@Dekana i mostly use Tamiya paint because it is easy to get it and Vallejo because it is available at Volks in Sannomiya, if you have problems getting the foreign stuff, you can do a lot with Tamiya and Mr color paints, And check out how to make a wet pallete because Japanese summer is coming, and the paint will dry like crazy!

Good point!
@dekana - make a wet pallete. Take a plastic tray (the blister packs that minis come in are good, or alternatively the plastic trays thr chicken comes on in the supermarket are ok, too (but wash the crap out of these first.)

Put a lightly folded piece of kitchen paper onto the tray. Make it wet (soaked is good)
Place a piece of baking parchment on top of said kitchen paper. Use this as your paint mixing surface. The parchment is just water permeable enough to transfer water from the kitchen paper to the paint as it dries, thus maintaining water balance in the paint. This is very important here in summer, as things dry uber fast.

Started working on repainting a Wulf Sternhammer Heroclix mini. I'm hoping to get him done by tonight.
