Not much painting lately but i started to work on my Terminator captain i brought back from the Netherlands.
Will use it for my Buddhist chapter.

Didn't want to use the normal powersword, and i don't like the use of a tent pole on the back of a marine, so i used that to make a naginata spear. (the spear comes from a sakura taisen garage kit model)

Today I got all the painting done on my Samurai. After the varnish dries I'll attach them to bases and put some sand on top sometime tonight. Tomorrow I'll get all the bases painted and flocked and ready for Sunday. :D

#Edit# - All the minis are glued down to bases and sand has been stuck down on top. :D

Howdy all. It's been an odd week here. Back at work. Not super happy about it. Trying to get the hobby room back into workable condition, and generally getting back into the swing of things. Anyway. One thing I've been doing is transferring paint from old GW pots to new, shiny Vallejo dropper bottles. Why? Well, because this:
Image

This dried up crusty crap doesn't happen with Vallejo bottles (at least, I've ever seen it.)

So, I've been rather laboriously decanting paint for the past few evenings. It really brought it home what a bunch of bumholes GW are. Consider this pic:

Image

The sybarite green and the Iosan green are brand-new-never-opened paints. The sybarite green is by far the more expensive bottle...

Also, I dunno if anybody else has noticed, but over every iteration of GW paint pots it has gotten harder to actually get the paint out (I mean, as much of the paint as possible.) and/or they contain less. The original cylinders were fine, but you'd never get the last drop out due to the height. The hex pots contained less and dried out quicker due to the ill fitting hinge. The screw tops were a frickin nightmare and dried their lids on within months, and now the wee bullet pots are the smallest ever aaaand while the original ones (dheneb stone, devlan mud) could have their tops unscrewed for easy access to all the paint under the rim, the newest ones (sybarite green etc) are not screw top and you need to prise the feckers off with a knife.

It's almost like GW want to give you as little paint as possible for your money, whilst making it as hard as possible for you to actually use that paint before it dries up and you need to buy a new one...

On the plus side, the plastic labels on the new GW pots peel off really nicely for sticking onto the Vallejo bottle

@ J-R: That is an awesome naginata. It would make Benkei proud.

Today I worked a tad on my voltiguers.

@M_i_J - Yep, all of the above is true, but you missed a couple of points.
The original bullet pots weren't too bad except for the ever decreasing volumes. Then they released the second gen bullets which had no way of keeping the lid open. Their default position was about 20゚. Now we have paint pots which have a lug to help them stay open (good), but the gap around the inside of the lid is now a frickin' reservoir. I cleaned out the top of my Abaddon Black the other day as it had reached the point where the lid wouldn't close. I could have painted half a chapter with the dried up paint I pulled out of there.

Thanks Job!
me_in_japan, i think i have bought 3 gw paint bottles in my painting life, i started with Revel Enamel paint until they changed the formula, then i switched to tamiya and only last year i started to buy vallejo, from my model kit days i found GW overpriced and with Tamiya even after 25 years the colors are still the same.

This evening I actually did some mini stuff! (Gosh, cor and blimey guv.)

These three Oiran. Lovely minis - I think I'll call em Charlie's Angels :)

Image

But damn dude, they've get small feet. (And hands, and heads. This probly has a lot to do with them being proportioned like normal human beings*...)Image

*ok, very skinny normal human beings.

I'm very motivated Sunday game. I started again painting my brownish samurais.
Last night I painted 24pcs of teppo ashigaru sleeve.
