What did you do today.
Re: What did you do today.
@Job, Cheers!
@MiJ, tucking into a can of Premium Malt as I write (actually, tucking into a can of "The Premium Malt's'' - love that apostrophe) Only the best for my celebratory beer... The deal at the school is that I (and I think 3 other foreign teachers) do something like ALTing in the morning, but after 3:30 or whatever when regular lessons finish, we are in the school's International Centre, which is somehow separate from the school, but not really, and is more like an eikaiwa, and we are solo teaching..or something. Ok, I admit I'm vague on the deets. The school has an international exchange programme it's proud of, so a fair bit of Eiken and TOEIC prep will feature.
Time off looks okay, substitute holidays if you work at weekend, generous hols. I am hopeful it won't be 55 hour weeks, but prepared to work if I need to.
Oh, and I saw Doctor Yellow yesterday at Nagoya station. Anyone else? I can now truly say that I have lived.

@Lovejoy- Congrats! Must be a load off your chest. And a real, direct hire private school gig! Yeah!
@AGP- so....tidy.....I am so jealous.
I got in a bit of work on my Diggashaman. Something was missing from her mask. The missing thing was spikes. Now she looks like a scary. naked Statue of Liberty. Once I spike-ify her gloves I'll be ready to say jobs a good-un.

Due to the favorable exchange rate of pounds to yen I managed to get the following from Amazon JP ;
Bolt Action Tank Wars
3 Tigers
3 Marder III
2 Panzer II A
Reckon that's enough for a good bit of tank vs tank fun

Plastic mate. I went with Tamiya.
I've no idea which tanka are good or not to be honest, I just thought they looked cool and the price was bloody brilliant.

There used to be rules for thatPrimarch wrote:Fun for you perhaps.Spevna wrote:...3 Tigers...
Reckon that's enough for a good bit of tank vs tank funEven with a Sherman armed with shells full of paint, I'd be wary of taking on three tigers.

Sounds like an interesting game mechanic.AndrewGPaul wrote:There used to be rules for thatmy favourite was the "Enough of those negative waves, Moriarty!" rule - if you complained about your dice, your opponent got a re-roll.
Yep, Tamiya are cheap as chips here in Japan, though a bit more pricey back home.Spevna wrote:Plastic mate. I went with Tamiya.

As for your selection, the Tiger is one of the heaviest mid-late war tanks around, the Marder is a mobile anti-tank gun and the panzer 2 is an early war tank.
I'm going to have to look at getting my American and British tank destroyers built up over the winter break.

Re: What did you do today.
Today I painted a smidge, assembled a smidge, and got very annoyed at British passport rules. Seriously. 6 weeks to process a renewal. Which takes place in Liverpool. 10 years ago it was 2 weeks in Osaka, but hey, that's progress for ya
Also, wtf is wrong with a blue background on the photo? My nearest photo booth only does blue.

Fifty shades of Shaltari -
Or at least 6.
According to Youtube the way to get that nice bright orange is to base coat yellow and then paint on a nice wash of red ink.
When I did this I got the example on the far left, which is really just a deep wine red. Guess it looks nice though.
So then I tried thinning down the red so it wouldn't be so overwhelming. This resulted in the far right examples.
Finally, I got the mix exactly right, resulting in the ... just kidding!
I painted them orange with acrylic paint straight from the pot. But then I felt bad for taking the easy way, so I washed them black (left) and red (right) and then dry brushed them again with the same orange to counteract some of the wash.
Not certain yet quite what I'm going for as an end result. I'm likely to go with orange base, black wash, and yellow edge highlighting for now.
This my first attempt to copy a uniform color scheme from a book, so it's a learning experience.
