Only 2.5 hour flight to Rome from London!
Good point..we're thinking of doing a family mini tour of Europe in a few years, if we can swing it financially..

@y-s -- ooh yes, come to Claymore! I'll be there with AGP and his Glasgow gaming mates. It'd be dead weird to see you in Scotland, actually. But nice :) Consider yourself very welcome :)

@MiJ, ah, well, it would actually be me going to Claymore (unless YS is going and I missed a post). Probably horribly jetlagged as I would only arrive in the UK on the 30th, but I reckon I am going to do it! I would be happy to meet up with you, AGP and co if you'd be agreeable.

It seems that the world famous Kirriemuir Games Club (can't believe they're really going to be there in the flesh!) are running some kind of demo of the first Battle of St Albans (which kicked off the WotR), which is something that is of interest for starters.

@lovejoy - d'oh! Dat's who I meant. Stupid brain-typo thing :( And cool :) We shall have to exchange uk phone numbers and organize a meeting place and suchlike :) We can introduce you to the joys of a flat sausage and tattie scone roll, too :) How exciting!

Today I akcherly purroperly did some painting:

The astute among you will notice that this is not, in fact, the Deathjack. To be fair, it is still technically a killer robot, albeit one in a pretty frock and with less in the way of chain-encrusted cow-size hands, but at the moment I'll take any painting I can get. I'm trying to wrench myself away from screens. Waaaay too much Skyrim and Netflix this last month. This evening I managed to avoid both, although that was partially cos I was parked in front of the PC doing an assignment for uni. Anyway, weening myself off that nonsense and trying to get back to something more constructive. Like painting teeny tiny l'il dancing girls :?

Picked up a cheap secondhand copy of Space Marine for PS3 this afternoon.

I might be a bit late but has anyone else played it? It's not the most challenging game, but the weapons and scenery are bang on and I've been having a ball chainswording and blowing the brains out of Orks and gretchen for the past couple of hours (Nice to win for a change, lol).

Also, I was concerned it might be a dodgy voiceover, but the only thing Japanese about the J edition is the guidebook. Def recommend if you can get a copy.

Space marine is awesome fun. I'm a die-hard eldar player and it had even me thinking "for the emprah!" as I jump packed off a overhang, smiting the foul xenos with my thunderhammer :)

Indeed. Drop-stomping on fools from above is glorious. Love the chokehold-to-belly knife or chainsword action. Haven't got my hands on a thunder hammer yet but I'm looking forward to it.

@Mij - I'm moving in to a new place very soon and planning to make a gaming room. I somehow came across pics of your modular board on Dakkadakka (I think!) How's it go for storage? I'm thinking of doing something similar, but will have to suss out just how much room I have to play with.
