We gave them a few blasts with the spray we bought and that seemed to tick them off, so we ducked back indoors again. Anyway, when we went back outside we couldn't find either of them. The spray is supposed to have a repellent function as well as being poisonous for wasps/hornets, so hopefully they will stay gone.Having inspected the area they were hanging around, it looks like there is nothing there.
What did you do today.
Re: What did you do today.
I didn't stop to chat with them to ask if they were wasps or hornets. (The latter being a subgroup of the former). They were big blighters though, 4cm long and pretty mean looking critters to boot.

I feel your pain, chaps. Chez Lovejoy it isn't all insect free either, midges are a bit of a plague in these parts. A river not too far off, see. We've learned fast to batten down the metal blinds at night time and make sure the screens are properly shut. I was covered in red marks when summer first hit..hornets are an altogether more dangerous bag of rabbits though, that's for sure.
Not much hobby wise, although yesterday I did make a little more progress on my Beast-not-men-kin.
Dug out some citadel halflings recently - Perry sculpts circa mid 80s! One in a Benny from Crossroads style knitted hat (you'd have to look that up, he was a thing at the time), another has a pot as a helmet, and perhaps my favourite of them wears a huge floppy hat, and exactly resembles the 3rd ed entry illustration for the Halfling Hero depicted there in the rulebook. He isn't mounted though, unlike the drawing. Very characterful fellers. Tiny tiny though. But you know, they're hobbits...
I grabbed this off the web, they are not mine, nor are mine painted, but I thought folk would enjoy this old skool image. I have the third one along.

Wasps, not fun at all, but they are very impressive in size around these parts for sure.
Well, today I worked on the Blood Slaughterer a bit. A couple of decals on the model and some Nuln Oil wash.

As long as they didn't look like this lovely fellow, you're good!Primarch wrote:I didn't stop to chat with them to ask if they were wasps or hornets. (The latter being a subgroup of the former). They were big blighters though, 4cm long and pretty mean looking critters to boot.

But, yeah mate, we all hope they get the hint that Casa de Prim is not the a good place to spend the summer!

If it had been one of those Suzumebachi, I wouldn't have been dealing with it myself. That's a job for the pros.kojibear wrote:As long as they didn't look like this lovely fellow, you're good!Primarch wrote:I didn't stop to chat with them to ask if they were wasps or hornets. I love it when one of those buggers flies through the classroom window. Cue much screaming and running from the class of teenage girls who then cluster together at the far corner and look at me like they expect me to do summat about it
On a happier note, this evening I finished the last mannequin. Yay and so on

Assembled a squad of Imperial Gourd for space crusade (which means my German project is getting delayed again, alas) - will get them primed as soon as I get a replacement can of black spray.
Feel free to call me Dave!

Re: What did you do today.
Here' my suzumebachi story. Some years back, I was heading to class. It had been test week before, so I was just coming in to do the last half of the lesson as the regular teacher needed the first half to hand back tests and sort through things with the kids. I walk in and the room is in the above mentioned state of suzemebachi inspired clustering and chattering. Steely eyed and unwavering, I manfully stride across the classroom, and open the upper windows. The hive-spawned terror drones off on it's waspy business. Not a moment too soon because those things scare the hell out of me and I can only fake steely-eyed, unwavering manliness for so long. I look around for the teacher. No where to be seen. I walk up to the front of the class and spot her as she uncurls herself from out under the podium.I love it when one of those buggers flies through the classroom window. Cue much screaming and running from the class of teenage girls who then cluster together at the far corner and look at me like they expect me to do summat about it![]()

Re: What did you do today.
As those of you who read my posts know (I'm assuming someone reads what I post), I am currently working on a secret project. The first stage of the project is well underway and I have almost everything I need to finish it in my possession already. Last night I received an email saying that the final few pieces are almost in place and should be with me soon. YAY! My secret project is getting closer to completion. Along with the secret project minis I have on order, I will also be getting a pile more minis for Secret Project No. 2., or SP.II for short. Great!
However, the other day, as I was walking peacefully home after work, I was struck with inspiration like a bolt from the blue for Secret Project No.3., SP.III. Oh dear. However, all the pieces for that have already been bought and I have even started some assembly work. For less than the cost of a Land Raider and a Rhino, I will!be able to astound and astonish everyone with SP.III. It may not have a whole lot of Swoosh, but it does contain an acceptable level of Zoom and more than a little Dakka. Hopefully enough to impress even though most unimpressable of Nagoya players.
So much to do, so little time.

Turned my Age of Sigmar free mini into a minotaur terminator
Was interested in the Aos starter set but 17500 yen is to steep for my taste.
