What did you do today.
Re: What did you do today.
Wow, that's a pretty big event. Hat off to Satoru-san for organizing such an event.
@ Underdweller: thanks for the link. It is very helpful.
Tonight I had a few craft beers with my language exchange partner and a coworker. The place we went has a great vibe.
I'm eager to invest an hour or so in painting some of the Polish Voltiguers (Marching poses), and drink some mugi cha.

Re: What did you do today.
I did a bit of painting yesterday on a frostgrave zombie in some rather natty orange troos which I will hopefully finish tomorrow. That said, the reason he aint finished today is because I spent the evening watching the first two episodes of Stranger Things on Netflix. A bit of a doozy of a show, I must say. Very much strongly recommended to everybody here. Anyway, as long as I can resist binging on too much TV tomorrow, hopefully I can finish zombieface tomorrow evening

Craft beer and a great vibe? Where oh where? Generally, my vibe while drinking a craft beer is to cry into said craft beer. But I am always looking to widen my experience.job wrote:Wow, that's a pretty big event. Hat off to Satoru-san for organizing such an event.

Japan Craftbeer and Wine Grillman. It has some good Japanese craftbeers on the tap. It is a smaller restaurant with books on the wall they also sell. As my coworker said, it has a Portland vibe (which is good in my opinion; I like books.). The place is fairly near Fushimi station.Konrad wrote:Craft beer and a great vibe? Where oh where? Re: What did you do today.
Took a trip down to Tsu today to visit the Labor Board. Figured I would have a nice battle royalle on my hands. Laid out the violations that my former employer had done and the guy was in shock at their audacity. In less than 10 minutes I had a victory. The contract in its entirety was illegal and I had a choice to either go the route of getting my old job back as a direct employee of Maryknoll or having my contract converted to a hakkengaisha.
Now, I have other contractual obligations and unlike a lot of others, I don't like betraying others. So I planned to opt for the contract change. That and I don't want to work with a certifiable sociopath. Now before I even said anything, I knew that this company was going to do something stupid r the government would flop. And as a curiosity as I have heard so much bad about my replacement from the students, I called my friend the vice principal. He said things were going terrible this year and my replacement isn't even a native speaker but a Dane. From what I understand, it sounds like at least the VP wants me back to bring some sanity to the school.
Well I was right. Because the tax department is not fully in the loop, the black company ran circles around them and held their ground. In addition, they even went so far as to claim I was never full time.
So, I will go to the Labor Board again and decide my next move. Once my current breach of contract lawsuit is finished on my car, I can go after this company (which we all know, civil lawsuits are where the real money is at) however I am having a hard time counting the things I can pile on them in a lawsuit. Which way to go to screw them over more? Which way will draw the most blood? Which way to rget the most laughs?
Meh, we all know that if it weren't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all. But for the first time in ages, it feels good to have some of the initiative for a change rather than being on the defense and judged guilty even if proved innocent.

Re: What did you do today.
I did this picture the other day and posted it on a few forums.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive so o thought that maybe I'd look into designs a range of viking dwarves and commission someone to sculpt them.
I then looked into prices.
I will not be commissioning a range of dwarves

You guys made it to Mie model Con! The first one. Huzzah indeed
I hope you can get some new players for Nagoyahammer, there seemed a fair amount of interest in tabletop gaming when they were setting it up.
It looks great. Wish I could have been there.

Spevna: Great illustration. Keep on with commissioning the drawings if the sculpting is too high. Looks great.
Voss: Gambatte. I hope it works out eventually. Stay calm if possible. I did PM you about some work but it sounds like you're tied up with legalities. I would recommend moving on as best you can and dealing with the legal stuff a day at a time. Get the temp visa sorted and then the new job and deal with the past stuff when you feel calmer. I won't go into my situ but that's what I've been doing. It makes things bearable.
Missing Japan and everyone, have a great Summer.
Lovejoy: Hope you're feeling better. I was concerned. Also I wanted to tell you I watched the best episode of Lovejoy the other day called Flying the Flag. It deals with antiques from the War of Independence and the Boston Tea Party. The episode features a tabletop reenactment in the garden with real rocks and dirt, H.G. Wells style. In fact all of you guys should see it. Micheal Horden appears also.

@Prim Not sure if you're a Lovejoy fan but just in case you are it's on Freeview every weekday from 5pm. Drama channel, right after Time Team. Also while you are home grab a few beers and check out Bullseye from 11pm on Challenge TV. Some of the prizes are hilarious. It's very Vic and Bob meets Jon Shuttleworth but for real. A 22 inch colour television set and a tape cassette player for the car to name a few. Happy holidays.

Re: What did you do today.
@Spev- Love that bannerman, er bannerbugger? flagobbo? No school like old-school.
@Job- Ah, Grillman. I've been there, and feel your vibe. I was just out with your fellow Portlander, Jason at Bricklane the other day. Burger was better than I remembered, and there was a new, quite nice Swan Lake on tap.
Been busy painting and puttyin' this month. Will put up some pics in a bit.
