also, on an unrelated note, I started playing the newest version of Doom, which i had bought cheap last weekend.

Ooooooooooooooooooh. But it's nice. Soooo, soooooooooooo shooty. Sooooo, sooooo gory. Just, Doom, in all of it's old school glory, but with shiny new graphics and uber killiness.

With the exception of a short, punitive expedition to teach some Russians why they shouldn't side with Corsican upstarts, I have spent the better part of the last four days painting up some German Panzer Grenadiers and some British tanks. Nothing to show just yet, but the bulk of the work is done.
Spending so long painting has made me realise that I need a better chair than the little stool I have at the moment. My sitting parts are aching something fierce.

a good painting chair is 100% vital for all people who dont want horrible back ache. I read up a bit about this when I was planning my hobby room, and all sources agree it's worth a bit of extra expenditure to save yourself a world of pain down the line. Also, good lighting will help your eyes in the long run (and also improve your painting, but that's incidental).

ps I have done nowt but shoot demonzombiemonstercyborgs for the past few nights. You can rip their arms off and pummel them with the bleedy end, doncherknow.

I suppose that means the bells ring in London.

About wrapped up 6 more fusiliers. Another 6 should be lined up, but alas I have no primer. I also prepped the 6 Gendarmie mounts.

Hello all. I've been back in the UK for about a week for my yearly trip home, in another week I'll be back in Japan. Warm for a British summer. A bitter sweet experience as I'm without the family, and seem just to have been sorting out a series of nuisances rather than really enjoying a break (banking stuff, tracking down toys and books for the boys, and the traditional packing of boxes to ship home which has monopolised a day or three). Other than the occasional flurries of activity, a quiet and humdrum time of it really, with only myself and my dear silver-haired old Mum.

I realise I've lost touch with the majority of my friends here, but I should be able to meet two or three old faces before returning. In the meantime, I found some gems to leaven the ennui. Some old Rpg bits and bobs for MERP and Cthulhu. In the depths of the attic, found the spiffy hand-made pirate ship which my father built for my playmobil toys when I was a nipper. It looks salvageable, and I'm shipping it home as a fixing up project for my boys. A bit of paint, and a rigging re-jig should do it. They aren't old enough to play with it yet, but by the time I get round to restoring it, the oldest should be.

Also uncovered some nice old 80s citadel minis (beakies, a squat, rogue traders, knights etc). Plus, the novelisation of Baldur's Gate, which I had forgotten I'd bought - looks frankly awful at a glance, but it's gonna get read.
And for some reason, the British based company I used to get discounted lotr stuff in Japan (naughty) sent a duplicate Goblin Town set here, due a confusion over billing and mailing addresses, and they don't want it back! The very idea. Okay, not many people's idea of a desirable freebie, but I'm quite chuffed.

Like I said, a bit humdrum, but you get your kicks where you can in this town.

@Yellowstreak, yeah, I've got the first Sorcery App (or rather "Sorcery!" App), it's faaaantastic. I'm looking forward to seeing them all released for a big connected playthrough. Looks like Seven Serpents is out and Crown of Kings is well along...

I'm spending fairly productive summer vacation.
Now, I finished as following miniatures. Mostly Konflikt 47 materials.
5 pieces of U.S. heavy infantry
8 pieces of German zombie soldiers
A German light walker spinne
A German Panzer IV with beam turret
A U.S. Sherman with tesla cannon turret
A U.S. light walker coyote

20 pieces of U.S. soldiers are on going.

Got a Digga finished, finally. Not perfect, but an improvement over the last one. There are some more pics in my gallery at Yaktribe. Here's a thumbnail, as even with the strategically placed warpaint, she's a bit nekkid for general viewing maybe.

And my last Mutie is also going sloooooooowly. Had to re-do the sleeves and can only do just a tiny bit at a time, or I will squoosh whatever bits I just did earlier.....slooooooooow!
...and now his Head was full of nothing but Inchantments, Quarrels, Battles, Challenges, Wounds, Complaints, Amours, and abundance of Stuff and Impossibilities.....

In other news, M_I_J, I read that BoLS article you liked; I thought the article was rather good, but the comments in the facebook post were full of eye-watering stupid;

"waah, it's all personal taste, and you can't discuss that!" Actually, I think you'll find that 3,000 years of cultural development means that you very easily can, you raging *&%*^()$-knuckle.

BoLS comments are really best avoided, unless you're either fishing for a laugh or feel the need to lament the idiocy of Kids These Days.

Past few days, I've been assembling mdf fences (AGP - the same ones you chaps used for the dino hunt compound. Damn, but why in the heck did he have to make the corners so fiddly? And why not make them standalone, so they can be put on the ends of long walls, eh? mutter mutter grumble grumble... )

Anyway, been making scenery, and watching Gotham. 's good. On episode 3 so far...
