Ooh ooh, I got one of those last December. Looks almost exactly like that! I'd only seen them online for stupid money, then I found one in my local Nafco store for about 11,000 yen. I'd been having really bad back pain from slouching in front of the computer for work, and that did the trick. Do you have those stores up near you? DIY and furniture store? They're probably online if you look....

Anyway, those kneeling chairs (called balance chairs in Japanese) are great!

Your lower legs are more resting on your shins than your knees. If you're sitting right there shouldn't be much pressure on them at all...

The nicer chairs have pegs in them allowing you to set the slope, so I'm actually using a fairly shallow gradient on mine, which means it's not too different from a normal chair. Some weight goes on my shins/knees, but it's probably only about 30-40% of my weight. The lack of back to the chair helps to keep a better posture.

I always glue a rare-earth magnet to the base of each model when I put them together. When I paint I use a 3" wooden block with a strip of steel bolted to it, and the model just sticks to it. It stops me from touching the model, and also gives me an extra 3" height - so it's closer to my eyes and I don't need to crouch forward. (Plus transporting them is easier... no foam required!)





I saw an interesting kickstarter just the other day that had a similar aim - wooden handles into which you can quickly wedge each model.

I see. Interesting idea that sitting/kneeling in that posture is good for one's back. (I don't mean to sound sceptical here - I genuinely do find it interesting )

The lack of a backrest and he forward slope of chair as designed to force you to activate your lower back muscles more. You'd be hard pressed to slouch in that bloody thing.
