Flamethrowers are apparently getting a bit of a nerf in V2, so that's a bit less threatening than it was. :D
Nice work though.

I decided the other day, since I'm kind of stuck for motivation to do much of anything hobby-wise, to embark on another kind of selfish project (in the sense that it's not for a game, or combination of game and scale anyway, that anybody else is doing).

The thing is, I've got this armored rifle platoon for Flames of War, which I'm pretty unlikely to ever use - partly because nobody's really playing FoW around here anymore (I freely admit that the fact that I put my own force on hold for so long may be at least part of a factor in this), and partly because, even if they were, I don't think I'd be up to getting the two more platoons I'd actually need to play (which, with my apologies, helps explain the previous comment too).

I've also sort of realized that the thought of finishing up my platoon of Germans for Bolt Action fills me with dread. I just don't think I'm up to painting 30-odd identical dudes in 28mm any more, or at least not right now.

So what to do? How about 15mm platoon-level gaming? I did some calculations, and I'm only like 10 guys short of a full armored rifle platoon for Chain of Command (which I use for calculating because it's stricter about full platoons than Bolt Action - obviously historicals are pretty game-agnostic). So a dozen guys from Peter Pig is like 6 GBP, and if one looks, a full panzergrenadier platoon is only like 14.50. Hmmm!

So, even though nobody else is doing it, I embark on putting together a couple forces for platoon-level WWII gaming in 15mm. To start is rebasing the armored rifles I have - when that's done and the credit card resets, I'll make a modest order from Peter Pig and get something together for actual gaming. Maybe nobody will be interested! Oh, well - it's a project at least, and that should get me working on hobby stuff hopefully.

The LT and platoon sergeant, the HQ squad and first rifle squad, and a couple optional bazooka teams. I'll need some more men on the ground to fill out the second rifle squad and get enough crew for the MG squad, 37mm gun, and mortar, and then these guys will be good to go.
Feel free to call me Dave!

I spent a bit of time rearranging my hobby room to make best use of the space and to try and figure out where I will be storing to Overlord terrain once it's finished. In the process, I managed to get half a dozen 1/2 full boxes cleared up, so that I have actually wound up having more free space.

...now to fill it all up by going on a crazy spending spree.

Oh, and after a year and a half of using the stool I bought as a stopgap, I finally got a proper chair for my painting room. :D

Mostly base color on the Raging heroes and Prodos space crusade miniatures, kept them 3 days in detergent and still the paint pools like i am painting on teflon, if i use the spraycan it works the paintfrom the bottles don't want to adhere for some reason.

Have you tried scrubbing them with an old toothbrush?

@ MTP: lovely to a fellow German player. Hell to the Allies!

@ TOD: nobody plays FoW? Anytime you want to give FoW or Blitzkrieg commander another go, I'll play at a drop of the hat.
And as for your 15 mm WWII platoon level game, please tell me more. I'm intrigued. I've had the itch to paint 15mm for the past 6 months.

And for my hobby progress... Nothing.

I'll probably wait to try BKC again until I get a nice juicy force in 6mm - a future project, but one that I've been eyeing for a while.

Platoon level at 15mm could just as well use Bolt Action, although I've had my eye on Chain of Command for a while. Like BA, it's individually-based, platoon-level, and it has some of the stuff I really love in wargames surrounding battlefield friction, fog of war, and so on. (And, as I read up on the scale, it seems like playing your typical 28mm ruleset with no conversions using 15mm models actually gives a semi-realistic ground scale, but that's neither here nor there.) But it's really, as I say, as much the combination of ease of painting and collecting a force that size at 15mm as anything - I think I'm well burned out (for a while at least) on painting more than like a dozen similarly-looking guys at 28mm, and don't really see shelling out for the fairly sizeable amount of stuff I'd need to flesh the force out in FoW.

My plan is pretty much to paint up a couple of forces, get some terrain together, and just offer people games, although if you feel like rebasing a platoon of your dudes to play, feel free! :)

That's odd. Both companies' figures are doing that? Did you give them a spray of primer after you cleaned them?
