Nice! (Does anybody have) any idea how to print out a high-res map like that? I have access to a poster printer at work, but haven't been able to figure out how to print a single poster-size high-res image.

Ooh! DFC scale map of Scotland! I wants it my precious, wantssssss iiiiiit...

also, a lot of very nice demo games going on there. Kudos and props to all involved.

@ToD - maybe ask any IT minded folks at your work? I dunno about your place specifically, but in my experience there's always somebody - some otherwise unaffiliated dude who everybody asks for tech related help. Printer's broken? Ask Daredare san. Coffee machine on the blink? Ask Daredare san. Need to print a high res poster sized map of the Nagoya area? Daredare san's yer man...

Failing that, find out what make and model your printer is and then google the crap out of that mutha. And yes, I appreciate I have a vested interest in the production of nice custom hi res DFC maps :D

*edit* I just now bought some stuff for x-wing (started to get a smidge of res and F/O stuff with a smattering of res/imp ships for fun). Bought them from Firestorm Games at 11.20pm. Received updated status of "picked" at 11.25pm. Then received status update to "shipped" at 11.35pm. Those lads do not muck about, lemme tell you
current (2019) hobby interests

Wow. And then Corona happened. Just....crickets, all the way through to 2023...

Got lots of exciting minis to paint. Frostgrave, Short Wars and Crooked Dice Planet of the Apes pulps.
Where to begin?

Off to visit a new gaming store this weekend in Sussex, it has tables and coffee. 3 pound for the day of play. Will post here later about it.

Yes, yes it is. I found it on NASA's Visible Earth image catalogue:

http://visibleearth.nasa.gov/view.php?id=72411

I had to increase the image size from 1600 x 2000 to 4800 x 6000 pixels(obviously it was still a low-res image, but increasing the image pixel count meant it became fuzzy rather than blocky when printed out).

One of the club members works in a printing shop, so he got it printed out, 5' x 4' (about 1500 x 1200mm)onto vinyl - same as you'd get a big advertising banner.

The position of the ground clusters meant we were attacking the major metropolises of Kilmarnock, Aberfeldy and Dornoch - placing them over the actual locations of Scottish cities makes for an unbalanced map. :)

If your printer can handle edge-to-edge printing, Adobe Acrobat Reader DC has a Poster mode in the print dialog which will print a huge PDF onto lots of sheets of paper. Just install something like CutePDF, PrimoPDF, etc to convert whatever you're trying to print into a PDF file first.

From the same NASA site, I found these:

(2000 x 2600px)

Nice! I did some poking around on that site after you posted, yeah - might just fit the bill!

The trouble with maps of all of Japan is the huge amounts of water, but there are quite a few pictures on there that would probably work great.
