Thanks for the games folks, it was a lot of fun! Especially thanks to Tallgeese/Allan(?), who was a wonderful sport even when the dice out and out betrayed him two games in a row! Also great to finally play some games against Dave; I'm scared of those ghosts now, they were unlucky the first game but the comprehensivemess with which they ruined my plans in the second was something to see

Good games!
Man, almost everyone has heard about it because Karantu and I couldn't stop talking about it, but the ending of our Titanicus game has to go recorded. There I was, at the bottom of the final turn with two reavers left, one near-crippled, to his warlord, reaver, warhound and two acastus knights - all with a sprinkling of damage but with nothing in a particularly fingernail-chewing state of worry damage-wise. With the final activation of the game, he targets my crippled reaver with his. Hits it. Destroys it. It goes down with a "wild fire" result on the catastrophic damage table, spinning to face a random direction and unloading all its weapons at the nearest target - which is the firing reaver. Those hit, and, a little luckily, destroy it. Causing a reactor breach and meltdown. Which (again, luckily) manages to destroy the warlord standing near it. Whose magazines detonate, hitting the nearby acastus knights with the equivalent of 4-5 volcano cannon shots each, destroying them. Leaving my remaining reaver, and his remaining warhound, blinking at one another in shock at a very sudden reversal. Awesome awesome stuff, although I wouldn't call my victory exactly "earned."
Then a couple very fun games of Underworlds, as Jye says - the banshees will take some practice to use well, but they do seem to have potential!
I'll start a thread shortly, but it looks like December will be on the 22nd at e-able again, so mark your calendars!

The Adeptus Titanicus game was pretty epic and exactly the type of cinematic nonsense I want out of games like that. Unlike 40k where I get screwed by the dice without too much flavour, in AT the dice gods are gracious enough to provide me with some amazing moments. Since I ended up snowballing early on, the game was initially going relatively tame until that final cascade of destruction, and even though I ended up loosing it was totally worth it. Personally I think its moments like this makes tabletop games that much more fun and interesting than other forms of gaming.
Next, I'm going to be building my Ossiarch Bonereapers army which I should hopefully be able to get 1000 points ready for by January or February so I'll be looking for some AoS opponents around then. Other than that, I'm also looking to dabble in Battletech, and I have the "Battletech A Game of Armored Combat" box so if anyone's interested I could bring that along sometime too.

Or the short version, "So, you want to roll for your reactor thing?" That was funny. You guys should play Gorkamorka! No lack of Engine Explosion things! The Other Dave wrote: ↑Sun Nov 24, 2019 10:07 am
