So, it looks like the entry fee for Brawlidays is here to stay (along with the silly name). I'll just stick to Wednesdays I guess.
On the plus side, it looks like they are officially working on adding older sets at some point in the future. When that will be is anyone's guess, but it's something to look forward to.

First Sealed event in Theros, using a GR deck with Nessian Boar, First Iroan Games, Phoenix of Ash and Gallia of the Endless Dance.

I played a sealed event....ah, no wait, I didnt. I started a sealed event, and then the server flipped out on me and disconnected halfway through a game. I mailed customer service about it, as I'll be buggered if I let a 2000gem entry fee event throw losses at me because of their server problems. We shall see how they respond (and by the looks of it, I'm far from the only one - it's all over the interwebs, and they've posted about it themselves on the Arena forums.)

Fwiw, I went for a 3 colour deck because I had two good blue rares and PollyK the ginormous golgari hydra zombie thing. I wuz looking forward to siccing the big guy on some unsuspecting opponent, too

Hopefully you can get that disconnect issue resolved. I got one disconnection during my run, but I was able to reconnect and rejoin quickly enough that I didn't even burn rope. I still lost that game, but the other guy had Kroxa on the field and I had no way to remove it in hand.

How do you reconnect without quitting the game? It’s not that my own internet connection was down - the server just disappeared and wouldn’t reconnect. I’ve never had a disconnect spontaneously reconnect, and I’ve had a a fair few disconnects in my time.

A screen popped up with a choice of 'quit' or 'reconnect'.

ah, I've never seen that. When I get disconnects, the game just...stops. The opponent's rope ropes down to nothing, then...I wait. I can click on interactive bits on the play area, and access menus and suchlike, but the game itself is dead as a dodo. Until about 10 or 15 minutes pass, then the game crashes back to the main screen and I get a loss recorded. Tis tres poopsy.

That's what usually happens to me as well. I figured this was some new option from the update or as a response to the increases in disconnections since Theros launched.

well, I eventually won 3 games (which was a bit disappointing, but hey ho), and also got my gems refunded (which was great) and then played another sealed event and won...zero. Which sucked. I dunno, I had a really hard time building the deck. It was one of those limited events where the rares are either dull (eg scrylands) or require stuff that the rest of the cards just dont support. No bombs or anything. I tried to build a blue/white/green deck (yeah, I know, 3 colours is stupid but no single colour pair looked anything other than suicidal. Either no flyers, no removal of any kind, or no way to actually win the game) but ended up with a deck that didnt really have a focus other than "play spells in the opponent's turn and draw cards". Which, to be fair, it did pretty well at. And then I would die, because my opponent either had a ton of flyers or a ton of kill spells. Meh, twas one of those days, really. Onwards and upwards, I suppose

3 colours in a 40 card deck seems a wee bit tight. It seems that most of the Theros rares I've run across have been solid, but not really game winning in and of themselves. The mythics seem to be on a different level altogether, but need something else (Devotion or Escape) to really get them going.
I've been doing ok so far with Sealed events. I've played 4 rounds so far.
7 wins with R/G
3 wins with B/R
6 wins with W/u
and 3 wins with W/G.
Hopefully I can get in another round over the weekend, but I've been puttiing off my painting too much recently and need to get back to my brushes.
