@ Jye, Some of these head swaps are getting out of hand... One of them seems to have a purity seal for a face or something. Can't wait to face them on the tabletop though.

I finally got my 3d printer fixed (mostly) and I did a slight redesign on the movement tray design I made before. Printed out a 32 as a test and seems to have come out fine. The handle makes it a lot easier to grab and move around but makes it a little less stack-able.
It takes a bit more than an hour to print one though. I might try printing a terrain piece tomorrow but those take an entire day. Unfortunately I can't run it overnight since it makes a bit too much noise for that.

Repentia heads are the best, and you get eighteen in a box of nine models. I'm lazy and didn't do any of the good stuff to make them fit nicely that a good convertor would do but they should be pretty distinct from Intercessors during the...exactly two games before 9th edition where I need a second battalion

Movement trays look good, looking forward to seeing more terrain too.

I finished up the first of my next batch of 4 "Dusk Raider" plague marines, with an eye to expanding options in my Kill Team and (by, like, fall at this rate) a 25PL force for Conquest* for Nu40K. Switching back to acrylics after getting elbows-deep in Contrasts for the past 6 months has been slightly less onerous than I thought it would be, but it's still some painting muscles I hadn't exercised in a bit.

*I think this (meaning Kill Team -> Conquest -> "full" games) may finally be the "gateway drug" entry point for 40K they hoped Kill Team would be, in the way that WarCry -> 1000-point Meeting Engagements -> "full" games actually can be for AoS. My 100 points of Kill Team is only 10 power, but adding an HQ choice and another squad of plague marines will take me straight to 26PL without too much trouble or expense, relatively speaking. The gap between Kill Team and "full" 1500 point games of 40K was really just too big to make the jump easily, but a middle-ground smaller game mode will probably do the trick.

Is that a man-bear-pig miniature on the bottom right?

I managed to print out a terrain piece today. I found the file somewhere online and it probably isn't optimized for 3D printing but it worked decently. The overhang meant that it needed supports which were a pain to clean up and left a lot of marks on the surfaces it covered. It took about 7 hours to print in total but will probably take a lot more time to make it look good on the tabletop. I might just do some minimal clean up and give a quick paint job just to get it over with though. Unfortunately its a bit small to be useful as LoS blocking terrain so I'll probably just be using it as scatter terrain along with my more functional DIY terrain.

Close, it's a bare-pig-man.

The terrain looks good, but seven hours does seem a little long. I guess you don't need to do much once you've set the machine going though?

If it goes well then I can just leave it until its done. It mostly needs a bit of baby sitting at the beginning since from my experience most misprints happen on the first few layers.

@Prim, good stuff as usual. Reminds me, as I am often reminded, that doing the pacific theater in 15mm would be a cheap and fun little project...

@Karantu - I imagine that would look perfectly serviceable with not much cleanup at all! Terrain is a lot more forgiving than minis, I've found.

I finished up the second of my 4 plague marines:

Since I got a whole bunch of actual GW paints together with the space marine heroes 3 malignant plaguecaster (it's a how-to-paint set), I got to fool around with them a bit with these guys, and (not really having used citadel acrylics since, geez, screw-top hex bottles?) I'm impressed. The metallic golds work *really* well, especially together with Agrax Earthshade, and Nihilakh Oxide is very nice (although a little goes a long way). Vallejo rust wash, too, is worth the price of admission.

(I also really love the bubble-gum color that VMC pink highlighted with VMC light yellow gives you - almost a shame I have to knock it back with a flesh tone contrast for these guys.)

Since I (and I believe some of the local japanese players) have a Japanese army and some suitable terrain already, and since 28mm is really not that expensive, using the same scale wouldn't be that terrible, would it?
Anyway, I'll probably get around to the pacific at sone stage. I still have a load of stuff for Burma plus various parts of Europe to do first.
I'm kind of tempted to build units for the Americal Division along with combat attachments from the 25th Infantry.

Nice work on the Dusk Raiders.

It's painting mostly - I discovered trying to do Germans in 28mm that doing lots of 28mm historicals is just too... much.

Hmm. Although! With Contrasts...

Hmm. Does anyone sell USMC in plastic?

Edit: Warlord does, looks like. I'll stick a pin in the idea, certainly - although it'll probably have to wait a bit.
