Storage is more of an issue now than ever so I was wondering if these would work well for building a board. Only 3x3 though.

Yeah, I've seen those. Sarissa Precision makes them. You may want to compare prices and options between Warlord and Sarissa.
They look like a good starting point for a board, being modular. If you're planning to glue on buildings and other terrain, you can add basing effects and flock to blend the building into the base for a more realistic look.
The only down side I can see is that they lack depth, so rivers and ditches would be harder to do. If you're just doing towns and fields they're fine.

Many thanks. I shall have a think. Might be better just to use the garden H G Wells style. Mind you sudden gusts of wind and Magpies are the real issue with garden wars. It's raining here today after months of hot sun. Starting to feel like the UK again.

I was out in thee garden this afternoon spray varnishing the finished project and then thought, why not. What last hurrah for the English Civil War.

The crowning piece for the project. 28mm model church. This could be the village church at Torrington before the destruction and explosion sufferered during the battle. Here the church is still being taken care of by the Royalists so the church is still of Catholic denomination. I need to find some stained glass.
