They are indeed loverly. One of my favourite things about TC is that they actively encourage third party content. Westfalia did a great job on the red brigade and I have faith these guys will also be cool (tm).

Trench Crusade does look fun, grimdark on steroids. I watched that video interview with Tuomos Pirren. They were like, "Oh, this is the artist (Mike Francia I think?). He was doing art for Diablo, but it wasn't dark enough...."
...and now his Head was full of nothing but Inchantments, Quarrels, Battles, Challenges, Wounds, Complaints, Amours, and abundance of Stuff and Impossibilities.....

Aye. Mike Franchina. The concept art for trench crusade has been floating around the internet for years now, but it's only relatively recently it was turned into models, and from them came the idea for making it an actual game. That's where Pirinen was called in. Basically the aesthetic all comes from Franchina, but the rules and story stuff is Pirinen (with a healthy dollop of community input, I believe).

ScannerBarkly over on YouTube does an excellent job with some short stories and general fiction reading from TC. He reads about such terrible things in such a lovely voice...

I'll have to check out the fiction. I was listening to a lot of history podcasts, "Revolutions" "The History of England" "Age of Napoleon" and there is plenty of horrible things in real life that you hardly need to add demons to it.
Man, if I only had space for a modular trench board.......... That would be a fun project!

Yeah, a trench board keeps calling me with its siren song.

I actually even already have one, but it's 3 4x2ft boards and does not travel well. It's also a desert, and designed for 40k, so I really really want to make a proper, smaller, denser mud-filled trench board.

But where would I keep it?

....eh, I'll find space somewhere...😁

Seriously, you build it I'll help. I have tons of random foam-core, bookboard, styrene sheets, tubing, bottles of Vallejo rust and and skulls, skulls, skulls just jammed on the shelf collecting dust. Maybe we can combine our genius. Your airbrush and my bitsbox and there is no horror we can't craft.

How many models do I need to start?

Which factions are being played already?

You don't need a lot to start. Each faction only has about 8-12 models.

I'm playing Court of the Seven Headed Serpent.
me_in_japan is playing Cult of the Black Grail, and I believe one more I can't quite remember (Red Brigade?).

But not including hiring mercenaries, my faction, for example, only has 8 unique unit types. And consider 4 of those are like elite, HQ-like units. Most of the customization is like old 40k where you use points to get the chassis of unit X, and then use a surprising amount of points on their custom wargear.

Thank you for the information.

Which of the sins are you playing?
