[quote="The Other Dave"]It's almost as if GW is parodying itself with some of these models.

There does seem to be a swing towards the huge and fantastically over- the- top. Not quite my cup of tea either. I blame it on computer generated 3-D rapid prototype miniature creation. If you were actually sculpting that thing with putty, you'd be taking enough time to stop and go....whoa....nah......

I agree wholeheartedly. It's the sillybling that puts me off fantasy, even more than the huge model count. All* of the recent fantasy monsters have left me scratching my head and thinking "how the hell did that get past the concept stage?" They're just not realistically sculpted. Too cartoony by far. It's fine if they want to change the style of warhammer away from grim darkness to a somewhat brighter outlook, but anatomy is anatomy, and some of those beasties would either fall over, never fly, or starve to death, depending on their particular anatomical abnormalities...

*with the exception of the hellpit abomination, which is by its nature an anatomical abnormality. It is also a pretty funky sculpt. I get closer to buying one every day...

Wow. And then Corona happened. Just....crickets, all the way through to 2023...

the artistic rendering in the WoC book for the altar looks awesome, that thing is a nightmare of a sculpt that should never have even made it to the concept stage!
