Because Daemons are more powerful and he would hate to give those rookies a fighting chance?

2 questions for Voss.
1) Are you allowing special characters? Doesnt make a difference at 750 points, but may be important at 2250.
2) Once we decide on our armies and lists are we allowed to change them, or are we usin them for the rest of that stage of the league?

1) special characters will be allowed in the later stages of the game, 2250 and 3000 respectively. but only one per army
2) you are free to change and modify your lists pre-tournament month. depending on how this works out, there may be a game day before the tournament of that month and if so, you need to be locked in by that game day.

also depending on the number of participants, I am thinking about having each table be with different missions. Rather than as Prim did during Nagoyahammer where each round had different rules, I would make each table a different mission that players alternate through.

I am a rookie in WHFB. And I thought you guys said deamons got nerfed in 8th ed.
As for zards. They are such a mess and I will have to buy the new army book. I thought the old one was fine btw.

You are free to if you like. It just means that I don't have to worry about ending up with a demon army

1 herald of khorny on a bloodchrusher w/ 25 pnt magic item (that's all the points will allow for characters)
2 units of 10 bloodletters w/ command
2 bloodchrushers w/ a champion

all that comes out to 635 pnts. you won't be able to get another blood crusher as your at the limits and 115 pnts isn't going to get you much more besides adding numbers to the two bloodletter units (fleshhounds cost too much for minimum unit size).

I think what ever I end up with can handle that.

Wow, 750 points doesnt buy you much with Daemons.

I'm considering Orcs and Goblins for my own force, but I know that T-o-D is planning to enter his Smurfs, so I may do something else. A lot depends on what the rookies want to get. I'm imagining they may go for Skaven and High Elves due to the new box set. I may go with vampires as I dont need to buy anything new and it will give me a reason to sit and paint 3 gajillion zombies (oh joy).

I'm expecting the new players to choose primarily from the following;

High Elves
Skaven
Orcs and Goblins
Dwarfs
Empire

This is namely because of the starter sets both new and old will be avaliable and there is an empire battleforce already there. Of course I could be totally wrong

The starter sets are definitely the way to go.
