And now.... some free rules.
That's right, GW is giving stuff away for free now.

That's good to hear that they are releasing some rules for free. It certainly is a step in the right direction as companies like Battlefront and Warlord games have been doing this for some time.

I wish more gaming companies would focus on making their money off selling models, rather than selling the rules. Of course, if I think about how much some money some gamers are willing to pay to just have a complete set of rules for a game, I could understand why GW wants to monetize. Nevertheless, I hope GW makes a trend of throwing the community some bones from time to time.

Did they post them before or after the leaked pics? :D
That poison bug looks pretty cool and looks like it could be pretty dangerous. 165 points is pretty cheap for a big bug isn't it? That psychic one is just too many points for a psychic zap beam. Seems redundant. Just in general, why use the dangerous, unpredictable powers of the Warp to shoot things. There are models with guns to do that.

The shocking reappearance of the phantom mycetic spore is the real news to me.
They needed to change the name and model (perhaps lawsuit fallout) but basically they have finally made the legendary tyranid drop pod. Only took them perhaps 10 years? Maybe more. There were mycetic spores in 4th edition, right?

I forgot about the mycetic spore. Yeah, they really took their time with that one.

I have been playing Tyranids since 5th edition, so can't say about earlier - in 5th, they had rules for Mycetic Spores, but no models. Meaning you could make them any size or shape you wanted, I think? Anyway I'm sure they will be a welcome addition, deepstriking a Carnifex or a horde of Devilgaunts could be pretty useful!

I don't remember there being a spore in the 4th ed. book. In the 3rd ed. codex they had an option to deepstrike everything in spores, but the spores had no profile and didn't require a model.
